Saints reserve DL Kenny Smith tore his rotator cuff and will require season ending surgery.
Smith started nine games at defensive tackle last year, but was headed for the bench this season. He’ll be placed on the I.R. later this week. The Saints are one team with a ton of front seven depth.

The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DT Kenny Smith.
Smith is a solid stop gap at DT. If your league uses the DT position, Smith could be a good bye week replacement.

The Buccaneers recently tried out free agent defensive tackle Kenny Smith, defensive end Andre Wadsworth, and linebacker Peter Boulware.
Wadsworth was the No. 3 pick in 1998 but multiple knee surgeries killed a promising career. Smith, a former third-round pick by the Saints, was at the Senior Bowl promoting himself. Boulware was inducted into the Ravens’ Ring of Honor but apparently wants another shot in the NFL.

Saints placed reserve DT Kenny Smith on the I.R. with a torn rotator cuff, ending his season.
Smith was going to play a significant role in the defensive line rotation in New Orleans.

Patriots released DL Kenny Smith and P Tom Malone.
The release of Malone, a former USC standout, clears the way for Danny Baugher to be the Pats’ starting punter. Smith was merely a camp body.

    Patriots waived DL Kenny Smith.
The Pats rightly believed that their undrafted FA class had more upside.

    Patriots signed DE Kenny Smith.
Smith didn’t make the Patriots out of training camp last year. Going on 32, the former third-round pick is likely just another practice body for the summer.

    Chiefs signed DT Kenny Smith.
Smith, 32, is another former Patriot. At 6'4/303, he plays defensive end in the 3-4 system. The Chiefs still only have one nose tackle -- starter Ron Edwards -- on the roster after moving Tank Tyler to Carolina.

    Patriots signed DL Kenny Smith.
Smith was with the team at 2007 training camp but was cut before the season began. He’s still facing long odds to make the team.
  • TB Linebacker
Patriots placed LB Bo Ruud (ankle) and DL Kenny Smith (arm) on injured reserve. They placed T Oliver Ross (shoulder) on the non-football injury list.
Barrett’s brother is basically getting stashed for a season. Ross looked like he had a chance to help the team since they are thin at tackle.
