Smith

Smith started nine games at defensive tackle last year, but was headed for the bench this season. He’ll be placed on the I.R. later this week. The Saints are one team with a ton of front seven depth.

Smith is a solid stop gap at DT. If your league uses the DT position, Smith could be a good bye week replacement.

Wadsworth was the No. 3 pick in 1998 but multiple knee surgeries killed a promising career. Smith, a former third-round pick by the Saints, was at the Senior Bowl promoting himself. Boulware was inducted into the Ravens’ Ring of Honor but apparently wants another shot in the NFL.

Smith was going to play a significant role in the defensive line rotation in New Orleans.

The release of Malone, a former USC standout, clears the way for Danny Baugher to be the Pats’ starting punter. Smith was merely a camp body.

The Pats rightly believed that their undrafted FA class had more upside.

Smith didn’t make the Patriots out of training camp last year. Going on 32, the former third-round pick is likely just another practice body for the summer.

Smith, 32, is another former Patriot. At 6'4/303, he plays defensive end in the 3-4 system. The Chiefs still only have one nose tackle -- starter Ron Edwards -- on the roster after moving Tank Tyler to Carolina.

Smith was with the team at 2007 training camp but was cut before the season began. He’s still facing long odds to make the team.

Barrett’s brother is basically getting stashed for a season. Ross looked like he had a chance to help the team since they are thin at tackle.
