Broncos selected South Carolina WR Kenny McKinley with the No. 141 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Extremely productive for Steve Spurrier, McKinley shattered Sterling Sharpe’s school records despite consistently poor quarterback play. McKinley is still raw, though, and very lean at just 6'0/188. He is also not a physical player. McKinley may have a hard time finding work on offense as a rookie.

Broncos signed fifth-round WR Kenny McKinley to a four-year contract.
McKinley was a dominant route runner under Steve Spurrier at the other USC, but has a stringbean build and often shied from contact over the middle as a Gamecock. Barring a Brandon Marshall suspension and at least one injury ahead of him, McKinley isn’t going to see much time on offense this year.

Broncos declared WR Kenny McKinley, WR Brandon Lloyd, OT Brandon Gorin, DT Chris Baker, OLB Jarvis Moss, OG Seth Olsen, LB/FB Spencer Larsen, and third QB Tom Brandstater inactive for Week 6.
Larsen (shoulder) is due back after Denver’s Week 7 bye. Otherwise, rookie coach Josh McDaniels’ team has been one of the healthiest in the league.

Broncos WR Kenny McKinley was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a left leg injury. He is doubtful to return.
The rookie was “up” and could have had a role today. Eddie Royal (neck) is out and Brandon Stokley was ejected in the first quarter. The Broncos now only have three receivers for the rest of this game.

Broncos placed KR/WR Kenny McKinley (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The extent of the injury was unknown. A fifth-round pick in April, the former Steve Spurrier disciple ends his rookie season with zero catches and 190 combined return yards. McKinley will battle for a roster spot in 2010.

Broncos placed WR Kenny McKinley (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The extent of his injury is unknown, but McKinley ended last season with a knee injury as well. The 2009 fifth-round pick’s football future is dim.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office has determined that Kenny McKinley was suffering from depression after undergoing knee surgery four weeks ago.
McKinley reportedly made statements just after his surgery that “he should just kill himself.” McKinley was apparently concerned about the end of his football career, wondering what he would do without the sport because “it was all he knew.” It’s a terrible tragedy.

Broncos WR Kenny McKinley has committed suicide.
McKinley is the third Bronco to pass away suddenly in the past four years. CB Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting, and RB Damien Nash collapsed suddenly at a charity basketball event. McKinley was on injured reserve for a recurring knee ailment at the time of his death. He was reportedly experiencing depression after being placed on injured reserve and was also going through financial issues. Our thoughts and prayers go out to McKinley’s family and friends and the Broncos organization.
