With Mike Maslowski injured, Kawika Mitchell moves into the Kansas City starting lineup.
Mitchell is worth picking up in deep IDP leagues at MLB.
  • NO Linebacker
Kawika Mitchell is awaiting MRI results on his high ankle sprain.
With MLB Mike Maslowski already sidelined, the Chiefs would hate to lose Mitchell for the beginning of the season.

  • NO Linebacker
Kawika Mitchell is likely to get his first start of the season at MLB in week eight.
Monty Beisel is injured. Mitchell didn’t play particularly well in the role last year, but has some short-term IDP upside.
  • FA Linebacker
Andra Davis ran as the Bills’ first-team “Ted” inside linebacker, ahead of Kawika Mitchell, to begin OTAs on Tuesday.
This is only a nugget for deep IDP leaguers; Paul Posluszny is a shoe-in to lead Buffalo in tackles. The inside linebacker adjacent him’s upside will be in the 80-tackle range. Mitchell will likely open 2010 as the No. 3 ILB.
  • JAX Linebacker
Gerris Wilkinson and Kawika Mitchell could reportedly end up splitting time at weak-side linebacker for the Giants this season.
The team may want Wilkinson to be its weak-side ‘backer of the future but Mitchell’s presence likely means neither will be a consistent source of production. Mitchell may in fact be the favorite to open the year starting.
  • NO Linebacker
Giants WLB Kawika Mitchell has resumed practicing with the team.
The decent IDP sleeper had missed some time with a groin injury.
  • FA Wide Receiver #80
Plaxico Burress (back) returned to Giants practice Tuesday.
No surprise. We’ll report on whether Burress takes part in full padded practice later in the week, but he appears to be on track to start in Week 1. He has a great matchup against a questionable Dallas secondary. Linebacker Kawika Mitchell (groin) also returned to practice.
  • JAX Linebacker
Giants LB Gerris Wilkinson suffered a dislocated knee cap, reports the Newark Star-Ledger.
The initial fear after Wilkinson was carted off the field Monday was that he suffered a torn ligament, but the report has him out 3-6 weeks. The second-year player is battling with Kawika Mitchell for the starting weak linebacker spot, and this probably ends the battle.
  • JAX Linebacker
Gerris Wilkinson has a chance to take over as the Giants’ starting weak-side linebacker in Week 3.
Kawika Mitchell has missed too many assignments in New York’s two losses. Wilkinson, who has been sidelined with a knee sprain, will practice fully this week. At worst, he’s likely to rotate with Mitchell in Week 3.
