Patriots signed fourth-round DE Kareem Brown to a four-year contract.
Brown posted 8.5 sacks at Miami as a senior, his breakout college season. He’ll be behind Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, and Jarvis Green as a rookie. He could also back up Vince Wilfork at nose tackle if necessary.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
Patriots fourth-round DL Kareem Brown practiced with the team on Monday.
Brown, who had been serving a three day suspension for violating a team rule, will compete for a reserve spot.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
Jets claimed DE Kareem Brown off waivers from the Patriots.
Baltimore and San Francisco also put claims in for the fourth-round pick out of Miami. Brown can play inside in a 4-3 and outside in a 3-4, so Eric Mangini could get more than just inside information about the Pats from him.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
Kareem Brown, formerly a defensive end, is being converted to tight end by the Jets.
The Jets are razor thin at tight end, so Brown is shadowing Bubba Franks in practices. With Dustin Keller around, Brown won’t need to catch passes. He’ll fill the backup blocking tight end role if he manages to make the final roster.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
The Jets are so thin at tight end that they used DE Kareem Brown there during their first offseason practice.
Brown predictably dropped a few balls. There is a faction in the Jets’ fan base that wants Brandon Pettigrew at No. 17. We doubt it’s realistic, but Pettigrew would be a terrific complement to catch-first starter Dustin Keller.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
    Jets waived TE Kareem Brown.
Brown was trying to make the switch from defensive end to tight end. Even though the Jets are really thin at tight end, Brown couldn’t crack the roster.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
Giants signed TE Kareem Brown to their practice squad.
The ex-defensive end could be a serviceable blocker if pressed into action.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
Jets declared K Mike Nugent, QB Brett Ratliff, QB Erik Ainge, WR David Clowney, CB Justin Miller, G Robert Turner and DT Kareem Brown inactive for Week 2’s game against the Patriots.
K Jay Feely will start while Nugent is out with a bruised thigh.
  • TEN Defensive Lineman
    Jets waived DT Kareem Brown.
Originally a fourth-round pick in 2007, Brown has been released by the Patriots and Jets. Maybe Romeo Crennel will want to give him a test drive.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Titans signed WR Paul Williams, OG Ryan Durand, DL Kareem Brown, WR Phillip Morris, S Nick Schommer, and LB Mike Rivera to reserve/futures contracts.
It’s well past time for the Titans to cut the fish loose with Williams. The 2007 third-rounder has never come close to seeing playing time. Schommer and Durand were 2008 draft picks that spent the season on the practice squad.
