    Giants released WR David Sills.
Sills continues to try and catch on to a 53-man roster but will be left off the Giants’ final lineup. Sills had a solid preseason for the G-Men, totaling eight receptions for 117 yards and one touchdown, which included a solid 6-81-1 line in the final game. In addition to Sills, the Giants also released/waived QB Tommy DeVito, RB Jashaun Corbin, WR Kalil Pimpleton, TE Ryan Jones, OT Tyre Phillips, DT Ryder Anderson, DT Kobe Smith, DE Habakkuk Baldonado, LB Darrian Beavers, LB Tomon Fox, LB Ray Wilborn, LB Dyontae Johnson, CB Gemon Greeen, S Alex Cook, LS Cameron Lyons, LB Oshane Ximines, WR Jamison Crowder, WR Cole Beasley, CB Amani Oruwariye, and C Sean Harlow.
  • FA Quarterback
    Giants waived QB Tommy DeVito.
DeVito was always going to be a long shot to make the roster, but it’s possible he will revert back to the team’s practice squad if he clears waivers. The undrafted rookie free agent turned in a solid preseason with the G-Men, throwing for 453 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his passes. In addition to DeVito, the Giants also released WR Kalil Pimpleton, who rose to prominence during last year’s Hard Knocks series that featured the Detroit Lions.

    Lions waived WR Kalil Pimpleton.
Pimpleton became a fan favorite through his appearances on HBO’s Hard Knocks. He supposedly had a strong camp, but the Lions’ efforts to retool their receiving room this offseason eliminated any chance of Pimpleton cracking their final roster. Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson noted that Pimpleton should draw interest from other teams. The rookie could be used as a gadget weapon on offense and is a strong punt returner.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Davie Birkett of the Detroit Free Press notes that Central Michigan UDFA Kalil Pimpleton “made an impression Saturday” at rookie minicamp.
Pimpleton is “incredibly shifty in the open field,” Birkett noted. Pimpleton has returner written all over him, but is small enough that he’s probably going to be restricted to gadget duty on offense unless he knows how to avoid every hit. So far, so good. The Lions seem pretty full at receiver, but Pimpleton is a UDFA to watch.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Former Central Michigan WR Kalil Pimpleton signs with the Detroit Lions.
Pimpleton (5'9/175) will live out a dream as he gets to stay home and signs with the Lions as a UDFA. He is one of those swiss army knife type of players that will lineup as a wide receiver or running back and his incredible speed can help him blow past the secondary. Special teams is where he really excelled as he retuned 15 punts for 290 yards, including back-to-back returns for a touchdown against Western Michigan. If he has a shot to make the roster, special teams is where it’s at.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Central Michigan junior WR Kalil Pimpleton will declare for the NFL draft.
Pimpleton (5'9/175) had his best season with a career-high 936 yards allowed with four touchdowns. You probably won’t hear his name called in April, but he should get a chance as a UDFA.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Central Michigan junior WR Kalil Pimpleton caught seven passes for 144 yards and a touchdown in a 37-17 win over Ball State Wednesday night.
Pimpleton (5'9/175) started the season off a little slowly, however once the Chippewas entered MAC play the junior playmaker came alive. He was electric again against Ball State, taking a jet sweep 50-yards down the left sideline for a touchdown to highlight another productive day through the air. This marks the fifth time in the last sixth games that Pimpleton has caught at least five passes, posting eight total touchdowns in that time frame. He will look to find the end zone once against next Friday when CMU wraps up their regular season schedule.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Central Michigan junior WR Khalil Pimpleton caught 5 passes for 115 yards and 3 total touchdowns in a 42-30 victory over Western Michigan on Wednesday.
Pimpleton (5'9/175) went wild in the first half, returning two punts for touchdowns and catching all of Daniel Richardson’s first four completions. One of his punt returns was a 95-yarder at the end of the half that he could have easily allowed to sail into the end zone, but instead he split the initial wave of defenders up the middle before cutting up the right sideline and dodging the converging punter for the score. The Chippewas rode Lew Nichols in the second half as they salted away the clock and secured the upset over in-state foe WMU. Pimpleton has been on a heater over the past three weeks, posting at least 100-yards in all of them while cashing in four total touchdowns. He will try to keep the positive momentum rolling next Wednesday against Kent State.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Central Michigan junior WR Kalil Pimpleton caught six passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in a 39-38 loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday.
The third 100-yard game in the last five for Pimpleton (5'9/175) was highlighted by a beautiful second-quarter touchdown pass from QB Daniel Richardson. Pimpleton ran a go-route, gaining about 3 yards of separation from the cornerback, and cut it inside for an easy touchdown. This was his longest reception since he had an 80-yard touchdown reception against Eastern Michigan on October 5th, 2019. He and Richardson have started to develop some chemistry and they hope it continues against Western Michigan on Wednesday, November 3rd.

  • Wide Receiver #81
Central Michigan junior WR Kalil Pimpleton caught six passes for 103 yards as the Chippewas defeated Toledo 26-23 on Saturday.
Pimpleton (5'9/175) had a season high in receving yards in this one, as he now has 423 receiving yards on the season while averaging 13.6 yards per reception. His long came on a 42-yard play, as Pimpleton was largely consistent in a game that only featured 49 combined points, which took overtime to reach. Central Michigan (4-3) will host Northern Illinois next weekend.
