NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Juju Brents will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
This is devastating blow for the Brents and the Colts as the young corner was coming along nicely. He nearly changed the Colts’ fortunes in Week 1 when he came down with a would-be interception that was eventually ruled out of bounds. The team expects him to be fully healthy for the 2025 season.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts CB JuJu Brents (quad) is practicing in full for Week 15 against the Steelers.
Brents has been out for nearly two months because of the quad issue but now appears to be good to go for Week 15. He was listed as questionable to play last week but the team ultimately held him out for one more game. Now healthy, Brents should retake a starting spot in the lineup. He has three pass breakups and one interception in five games this year.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts declared CB JuJu Brents, RB Jonathan Taylor, LB EJ Speed, RT Braden Smith, DT Eric Johnson II, DE Isaiah Land, and C Jack Anderson inactive for Week 14 against the Bengals.
Brents returned to practice on Thursday after missing several weeks because of a quad issue. He will need to wait at least one more week to return to action. Brents has three pass breakups and an interception in five appearances this year.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts CB JuJu Brents (quad) is questionable for Week 14 against the Bengals.
Brents has played since suffering the qua injury in Week 7. The second-round rookie had already worked his way into a starting role for four games. He has three pass breakups and an interception in five games this year. Getting Brents back would be a good sign for both the Colts’ defense and the rookie’s development.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts CB JuJu Brents (quad) returned to practice on Thursday.
Brents has been sidelined for several weeks with a quad injury, missing each of the Colts’ last five games. The rookie corner has started in four of the five games he’s appeared in this season, totaling 24 tackles and one interception while earning a PFF coverage grade of 66.5. His return would be a welcomed one for the Colts as they prepare for Week 14’s matchup against the Bengals.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts declared CB JuJu Brents, C Ryan Kelly, TE Drew Ogletree, WR Juwann Winfree, LB Cameron McGrone, and OL Arlington Hambright inactive for Week 12 against the Bucs.
Brents is out with a quad issue. Week 12 will be his fourth absence because of the injury. Brents has three pass breakups and an interception across five games this year.
  • IND Linebacker #44
Colts LB Zaire Franklin (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Cornerback Juju Brent was also out of practice because of a quad issue. Neither defender played in Week 9 and both look likely to sit out another week. Franklin leads the Colts in tackles while Brents, a rookie, joined the starting lineup in Week 4. The Patriots’ matchup with Indy will be far easier with Franklin and Brents sidelined.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Colts CB Juju Brents (quad) did not practice on Wednesday.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Brents will not practice this week, missing an entire week of work for the second straight week, which all but rules him out for Sunday’s game. That’s a huge loss for the Colts, who were vulnerable in the secondary against the Saints last week. While the Panthers don’t boast an exciting passing game, they have more than enough weapons with Adam Thielen, DJ Chark, and Jonathan Mingo to take advantage of the Colts’ depleted secondary. This could be good news for Bryce Young.
  • IND Cornerback #29
Former Iowa redshirt sophomore DB Julius Brents transferred to Kansas State.
Brents’ Iowa career was hampered in part by injury. He played a solid amount as a true freshman in 2019, but a knee injury sidelined him for a lot of 2019. Brents (6'2/204) was able to play in 2020, but may not have been fully healthy considering he only appeared in two games. It makes sense for a player like Brents, who got buried on the depth chart as result of injury, to perhaps look to restart elsewhere. It’s unclear for now if Brents will need to sit for a year due to transfer rules.

Iowa redshirt sophomore DB Julius Brents entered the NCAA transfer portal.
After being limited to one game in 2019 due to a knee injury, Brents (6'2/204) appeared in seven games this season. The redshirt sophomore accounted for four total tackles, which all came in the Hawkeyes’ season opener vs. Purdue, and one pass breakup. Brents will have up to three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop should he go through with a transfer.
