  • MIN Quarterback #19
Vikings signed QB Josh Rosen to the practice squad.
The former first round pick last played for the Falcons in 2021, completing two of his 11 attempts and throwing two interceptions. Rosen, mercifully, has not chance of seeing playing time in Minnesota.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
    Browns released QB Josh Rosen.
Rosen, who was signed on the eve of training camp, couldn’t beat out Josh Dobbs for No. 2 duties behind Jacoby Brissett during Deshaun Watson’s 11-game suspension. If the 25-year-old couldn’t crack this quarterback room, there isn’t a team in the league where he is going to be a fit.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
Browns signed QB Josh Rosen, formerly of the Falcons.
Rosen was brought in for a workout earlier today, along with veteran quarterback A.J. McCarron. Rosen’s workout appears to have impressed the Browns enough to give him an opportunity in camp as the team waits to learn the fate of Deshaun Watson. Any speculation that the Browns were interested in a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo can likely be put to bed at this point, as they now enter camp with Watson, Rosen, Jacoby Brissett and Joshua Dobbs on the roster. Barring a camp miracle from Rosen or Dobbs, Brissett should leave camp as the team’s QB2 behind Watson.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
Browns are working out free agent QBs Josh Rosen and A.J. McCarron.
The Browns are planning for a possible Watson suspension, which would necessitate a new backup quarterback with Jacoby Brissett handling starting duties. There has been speculation that the Browns could be in the mix for Jimmy Garoppolo once he’s cleared from his shoulder injury this summer. Bringing in Josh Rosen will do nothing to tamp down that speculation.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
Falcons declared QB Josh Rosen, OL Josh Andrews, DL John Cominksy, DL Marlon Davidson and DL Jonathan Bullard inactive for Week 15 against the 49ers.
The Falcons don’t have any notable inactives for fantasy purposes today. Feleipe Franks will serve as Matt Ryan’s backup for this game.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
Falcons declared QB Josh Rosen, S Richie Grant, OL Josh Andrews, OLB Ade Ogundeji, DL Tyeler Davison and DL Jonathan Bullard inactive for Week 14 against the Panthers.
It’s a quiet week for the Falcons’ inactives. Rosen remains lucky to be on the 53-man roster. The 2018 first-round bust has to be getting near the end of the line.

  • FA Quarterback #2
Matt Ryan completed 19-of-28 passes for 153 yards and two interceptions before being benched in the fourth quarter for the second straight week in Atlanta’s 25-0 loss to New England in Week 11.
Josh Rosen entered the game at 19-0 and immediately threw a pick-six. Patriots D/ST fantasy managers thank you very much, Arthur Smith. Feleipe Franks replaced Rosen and added an interception of his own. The Falcons made it into two third-and-inches situations in Patriots territory and were embarrassed at the point of attack. Ryan took four sacks, was bleeding on the sideline, and had problems with his ankle after one of New England’s second-quarter takedowns of him. It will be hard to have any confidence in Ryan next week, but the Jaguars are a plus draw on paper.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
Falcons signed QB Josh Rosen to a one-year, $850,000 contract.
Rosen’s addition comes one week after he was waived by the 49ers, and two days after Falcons No. 2 QB A.J. McCarron suffered a torn ACL. McCarron’s injury means Rosen has blundered into the opportunity for a backup job, as the Falcons currently have only UDFA Feleipe Franks behind Matt Ryan. As bad as Rosen is, Franks is not going to be a legitimate contender for the job. If Rosen loses it, it will be to another veteran that is added between now and Week 1. Rosen was not even practicing well in San Francisco, so it is a bad situation for the Falcons.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
    49ers waived QB Josh Rosen.
Rosen had recently complained about his number of reps as he battled with Nate Sudfeld for the No. 3 job behind Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. Rosen was 10-of-15 for 93 yards and a pick with the threes in San Francisco’s preseason loss to the Chiefs. Rosen, a statuesque 6-foot-4, should keep getting chances on the ends of rosters for a bit. Nothing he’s shown as a professional quarterback so far should make anyone optimistic he’s about to “get it.” Although the former No. 10 overall pick is still only 24 years old, he is getting dangerously close to out of the league.

  • MIN Quarterback #19
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Josh Rosen has “taken a few steps back the last few practices.”
While Rosen isn’t the quarterback everyone is dying to see in San Francisco or that guy’s backup, his performance in camp does matter. He’s currently battling with Nate Sudfeld to be the third and final quarterback that the 49ers keep on their roster. With Jimmy Garoppolo’s days in San Francisco numbered, the backup job should open up within a year as well. Sudfeld has guaranteed money in his contract while Rosen has none, pointing to the former as San Francisco’s preferred QB3. If Rosen does not make the final cut, he could land on another team’s practice squad. He spent the majority of the 2020 season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad before getting scooped by the 49ers as an emergency option.
