Ravens signed OT Josh Jones, formerly of the Texans.
Jones was a third-round pick of the Cardinals in 2020 and spent last season with the Texans. Jones started three games for the Texans last season and has started in 24 of the 60 games he’s appeared in. Jones shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than a depth signing at this point, but could get a chance to compete for the starting right tackle role depending on what the Ravens do throughout the remainder of the offseason.
  • HOU Tackle #78
Laremy Tunsil (knee) will not play in Week 4 against the Steelers.
Tunsil and backup left tackle Josh Jones (hand) have both been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Steelers, creating a potential field day for T.J Watt and a defense that is tied for the league lead in sacks (13). Backup lineman Austin Deculus could be in line to start at left tackle, which sounds bad when you consider he has as many offensive snaps through two seasons as the guy writing this blurb.
  • HOU Tackle #74
Texans LT Josh Jones (hand) is expected to miss the team’s Week 4 game against the Steelers.
The Texans are also expected to be without Laremy Tunsil, who is dealing with a knee issue. That is on top of right tackle Tytus Howard still sitting on the injured reserve list. C.J. Stroud is averaging over 300 passing yards per game and hasn’t thrown an interception yet, but sacks have been an issue for the rookie. He has been brought down 11 times through three games. Expect the Steelers’ pass rush to tee off on Stroud in Week 4.
  • HOU Tackle #79
Cardinals traded OL Josh Jones to the Texans.
Drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jones started 11 games for the Cardinals last season and has started 21 of 47 games in his career. Jones is in the final year of his rookie deal and could serve as added depth behind tackles Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard. Jones earned a PFF grade of 75.8 as a blocker last season.
  • BAL Tackle #74
Cardinals declared OL Josh Jones, QB Brett Hundley, S Deionte Thompson, RB Eno Benjamin, and OL Josh Miles inactive for Week 1 against the 49ers.
No surprises here as former CFL starting QB Chris Streveler will backup Kyler Murray in Week 1. D.J. Foster will replace Eno Benjamin as the team’s No. 3 running back.

The Cardinals viewed third-round OT Josh Jones as a top-five prospect at his position and a top 30 overall talent prior to the 2020 NFL Draft, according to team writer Mike Jurecki.
The Cardinals have a number of bodies competing to start at right tackle, including Marcus Gilbert and the recently signed Kelvin Beachum, but Jones could be a name to monitor if the team’s evaluation was correct. Most likely he spends the season operating as Arizona’s swing tackle. An improved offensive line would be a massive boost to the team’s offense, as it would allow Kliff Kingsbury, Kyler Murray and company to operate inside of the plan and structure more often.

  • BAL Tackle #74
Cardinals signed third-round OT Josh Jones to a four-year contract.
A four-year starter for the Cougars, Jones (6’5"/319) projects as a raw prospect after playing in three different offensive systems under five separate O-line coaches at the collegiate level. He garnered praise with second-team All-AAC honors as a redshirt senior, permitting zero sacks and quarterback hits against negligible talent and small-school prospects. He admittedly lacks explosion and decisiveness (both which show on tape), running an unofficial 5.29 40-speed in Indianapolis while struggling with incorrect angles as Houston’s pulling-tackle in his final year. Jones has a nice all-around floor, particularly as a stand-up pass protector, but ultimately lacks the ceiling of others in this class. He’ll likely carve out a role as a rotational player in his age-23 rookie season, though the Cardinals do need help at that position immediately. He’ll likely play at right tackle and compete across from franchise LT D.J. Humphries.

Pro Football Focus grades Houston T Josh Jones as the best player still available in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Jones (6'5/319) Absolutely dominated G5 competition, playing to a 93.4 overall season grade according to PFF, which is the highest grade they’ve ever bestowed on a Group of Five tackle. They have Jones ranked as the 14th best player overall who only allowed 18 pressures on 1,282 career pass blocking snaps. Scouts feel like his footwork can improve but that his technique should greatly benefit from NFL level coaching. Look for Jones to come off the board early in the second round.
