Saints promoted RB Jordan Howard from the practice squad.
Howard could actually see some decent run on Monday night with Mark Ingram sidelined. The veteran running back has bounced around a few teams since the Bears selected him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and last played for the Eagles in 2021. In seven games with the Eagles, Howard rushed 86 times for 406 yards and three touchdowns while averaging a solid 4.7 YPC and 3.14 YCO/ATT. Howard isn’t worth considering for your season-long fantasy lineups but could be a fun flier in tonight’s single-game DFS contests.

Saints signed Jordan Howard to the practice squad.
With Latavius Murray signed by the Broncos and Tony Jones waived, the Saints needed to add some extra depth to their practice squad. Howard closed out the 2021 season on the Eagles’ roster but was only a reserve option. He will get called up to the active roster if Alvin Kamara or Mark Ingram are hurt.

  • Running Back #28
Saints worked out RBs Jordan Howard, Jordan Wilkins, Antonio Williams, and A.J. Rose on Tuesday.
New Orleans lost Latavius Murray to the Broncos active roster last week and Tony Jones to waivers, so they’re in need of some RB depth behind Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram. Howard has mostly been ignored this offseason, with not even a workout to his name. One of these players could be selected to watch Taysom Hill rush for three more touchdowns every Sunday.

  • Running Back #28
Jordan Howard didn’t receive a carry in Philadelphia’s Wild Card loss to Tampa, but he did catch his only target for seven yards.
Carried all offseason by the Eagles, Howard was able to pop in as a decent fill-in back as dictated by Philadelphia’s injury and/or COVID-19 circumstances. Howard will be an unrestricted free agent of the “can’t play on passing downs” class. It wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up back with the Eagles as they are clearly the current NFL team that values him the most.

  • Running Back #28
Eagles activated Jordan Howard from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Boston Scott was also brought off the COVID list. Miles Sanders is dealing with a hand injury but is expected to play in the opening round of the playoffs. If that turns out to be true, Howard will likely split the backfield with him, leaving little work for Scott or Kenneth Gainwell. The Eagles get the run-stuffing Bucs in their Wild Card game so both backs are at risk of getting shut down this week.

  • Running Back #28
Jordan Howard (stinger, COVID-19) is expected to be ready for Sunday’s Wild Card game against the Bucs.
As are Miles Sanders (hand) and Boston Scott (COVID-19). With that full house in the backfield, Howard will hope for change-of-pace and goal line work with Sanders operating as the lead back.

  • CAR Running Back #6
Speaking Monday, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said he expects Miles Sanders (hand) and Jordan Howard (stinger) to be ready for the Wild Card Round against the Bucs.
“We’re hopeful for Miles this week. We’re hopeful for Jordan this week. I think we’ll have our full stable of backs,” were Sirianni’s exact words. It seems like Sanders probably could have suited up for Week 18 in a must-win situation, but it wasn’t, so he was given extra time for the playoffs. Having finally seized control of the Eagles’ committee, Sanders has looked like a different runner since returning from his mid-season ankle injury. The Bucs are as tough as it gets on the ground, but Sanders should still be expected to compile for DFS purposes because of Philly’s run-heavy approach.

  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert, Boston Scott, and Jordan Howard are among Eagles players who remained on the reserve/COVID-19 list and won’t play in Week 18.
The Eagles will mostly play second and third stringers on Saturday night against Dallas in what it essentially a meaningless game. Without Howard and Scott, Kenneth Gainwell and Jason Huntley will be the only active Philadelphia running backs. Tyree Jackson is expected to be the team’s main pass-catching tight end with Goedert out. Godspeed to those making single-game DFS lineups for this matchup.

  • Running Back #28
Eagles placed Jordan Howard on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Eagles also placed RB Boston Scott, LB Genard Avery, S Marcus Epps, G Nate Herbig, CB Avonte Maddox, S Rodney McLeod, LB Alex Singleton, and TE Jack Stoll on the list. The Eagles already have a playoff spot locked up and a win in Week 18 makes little difference for their seeding. With Dallas Goedert also on the list, this team could be down to its fourth-string running back and third-string tight end versus Dallas. Kenneth Gainwell would be in line for a workhorse role if Scott and Howard are both ruled out.

  • Running Back #28
Jordan Howard rushed 11 times for 26 yards in the Eagles’ Week 17 win over Washington.
Howard entered the game nursing a stinger. Minutes before kickoff, it was reported that he would have his reps monitored. That turned out to be quite the accurate report as he was out-carried 14-11 by Boston Scott, who punched in two short scores. Scott also saw four targets while Jalen Hurt looked Howard’s way just once. He did not catch that target. Howard will need to reclaim the RB1 duties in Philly to be a reliable fantasy option for Week 18.
