Arkansas DT Jonathan Marshall improved his draft stock with a very good showing at his Pro Day, according to Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline.
According to Pauline, Marshall (6'3/317) was considered to be a preferred free agent heading into Arkansas’ Pro Day. After the event, in which the defensive lineman put up 36 reps in the bench press, he’s viewed as a surefire Day 3 selection. Marshall finished his final season at Arkansas with 35 total tackles, including 6.5 for loss, and 19 quarterback hurries.

  • FA Defensive Tackle #96
Arkansas DL Jonathan Marshall recorded 36 reps on the bench press during the program’s pro day.
Marshall (6'3/317) showing off major strength, here. And we mean major. Only two players -- Netane Muti and Simon Stepaniak -- posted more bench press reps during last spring’s combine. A second-team All-SEC performer in 2020, Marshall is a potential Day 3 selection for the upcoming draft. Pro Football Network’s AJ Schulte had the Arkansas strongman swept off the board early in the seventh round, to Jacksonville, in a recent seven-round mock draft.

  • FA Defensive Tackle #96
Arkansas redshirt senior DL Jonathan Marshall entered the NFL Draft.
Marshall (6'3/317) has been a wrecking ball playing up front for the Razorbacks, racking up 19 hurries, nine QB hits, 6.5 TFL and 35 tackles. The stout interior lineman had never started a game for the Razorbacks prior to this season, but made his presence felt as he was named an AP All-SEC second team honoree. Marshall is considered to be the strongest player on the Arkansas roster and would be the eighth UA DL to be drafted since 2014 if he is to be selected this year. Marshall’s disruptive performance and impressive leverage at the point of attack will likely earn him a Day 3 look in the 2021 NFL Draft.

According to Pro Football Focus, Arkansas redshirt senior DL Jonathan Marshall leads the SEC in pressures earned in two second or less.
Getting pressure is paramount on defense. Getting pressure before two seconds have gone by, well, that is even better. Marshall, a massive man at 6-foot-3 and 317 pounds, has been a wrecking ball playing up front for the Razorbacks. Particularly in the team’s match against Mississippi State, Marshall was instrumental in the defense’s ability to get home with just three pass-rushers while dropping eight defenders into coverage against Mike Leach’s Air Raid passing attack. If Marshall keeps this up all year, he will propel himself further and further up draft boards.
