Vikings agreed to terms with EDGE Jonathan Greenard, formerly of the Texans, on a four-year, $76 million contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal includes $42 million guaranteed. Greenard was one of the top edge rushers available in a depleted market, but his guarantee is fairly modest for a player coming off a 12.5-sack season. That’s because consistency has never really been Greenard’s thing while injuries have been an issue, including limiting him to eight appearances in 2022. Greenard is also a situational pass rusher, with his 634 snaps last season a new career high. It’s a bit of a risk for the Vikings, but they will take it with Greenard still only 27 in May. This should mean Danielle Hunter is gone in Minnesota.
  • Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Anderson and Jonathan Greenard (ankle) joined Jerry Hughes (ankle) as Texans pass-rushers sitting out on Wednesday. Anderson and Greenard both played in the Wild Card round and were listed as limited participants on Tuesday. However, both were downgraded to DNP status on Wednesday with ankle injuries that continue to ail the Texans’ pass rush. If Anderson and Greenard practice later in the week, they will likely play Saturday against the Ravens in the Divisional Round, while Hughes is more of a question mark, having missed the Wild Card win.
  • Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play in the team’s Wild Card game against the Browns.
Anderson was sidelined on Wednesday but returned to the field on Thursday for the Texans. Thursday’s practice will serve as the team’s final tune-up before Saturday’s tilt with the Browns, but KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports Anderson is “set to play” this weekend. Anderson injured his ankle in Week 14 against the Jets and missed two games before returning for the final two weeks of the season. In addition to Anderson, DE Jonathan Greenard also returned to practice, while Jerry Hughes (ankle) remains sidelined.
  • Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Ankle issues continue to plague the Texans’ pass rush as Anderson, Jonathan Greenard, and Jerry Hughes all missed Wednesday’s practice with ankle injuries. Anderson has played through his ankle issue and is the most likely to play against the Browns on Saturday. Greenard and Hughes will need to practice before they can be considered to return for the Wild Card game.
  • Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice.
Anderson missed practice with an ankle injury he has played through in Weeks 17 and 18. DT Maliek Collins (hip), EDGE Jonathan Greenard (ankle), EDGE Jerry Hughes (ankle), and DT Sheldon Rankins (shoulder) also did not practice on Tuesday. The Texans have had a banged-up defensive front for a couple weeks now, with Greenard being the only player that missed Week 18. Expect most of them to return to practice later in the week, with a good chance to play against the Browns on Saturday.
  • Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) did not participate in Tuesday’s walkthrough.
Anderson previously missed time due to the ankle injury and just came back to play Week 17. He was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday’s walkthrough but still has a chance to suit up in practice later this week to play a Week 18 Saturday matchup against the Colts. DT Maliek Collins (hip), EDGE Jonathan Greenard (ankle), and DT Sheldon Rankins (ankle) were all listed as non-participants as well, with injuries piling up on the Texans defensive line.
  • Texans EDGE Jonathan Greenard (ankle) will not play in Week 17 against the Titans.
Defensive tackles Maliek Collins and Sheldon Rankins are questionable, as is EDGE Will Anderson. That’s the Texans’ top four pass-rushers all listed as either out or questionable. Greenard easily leads the unit in sacks with 12.5 on the season. The cluster of injuries should give Will Levis plenty of clean pockets to work from this week.
  • Texans EDGE Jonathan Greenard suffered an ankle injury in Houston’s Week 16 game against the Browns and will not return.
Greenard went down in the first half and was ruled out during the break. A passing-down havoc creator, Greenard has 12.5 sacks this season. It’s a big loss for a team whose playoff chances are getting sabotaged by injury.
  • MIN Linebacker #58
Texans placed DE Jonathan Greenard (calf) on injured reserve.
Greenard hasn’t played since Week 4 and was ruled out after a setback this week. The Texans expect him to miss 4-6 weeks, putting his earliest return at Week 11. Rasheem Green will start opposite Jerry Hughes in Greenard’s absence.

  • MIN Linebacker #58
Texans declared EDGE Jonathan Greenard, TE Brevin Jordan, WR Chris Moore, LB Blake Cashman, DE Demone Harris, DT Thomas Booker and OT Austin Deculus inactive for Week 5 against the Jaguars.
Greenard was questionable with an ankle injury, but will rest up as the Texans lose a key cog in their pass rush. Jordan (ankle), Moore (hip), Deculus (ankle), and Cashman (concussion) were ruled out on Friday. Harris and Booker are the lone healthy scratches.
