Rams signed RBs Fred Russell and John David Washington, Tim McGarigle, T Drew Strojny and WR Dominique Thompson to the practice squad.
Denzel’s kid could make the roster if injuries strike the St. Louis backfield.
  • LAR Running Back
Rams signed RB John David Washington and CBs Josh Lay and Darius Vinnett to the practice squad.
Denzel’s son sticks around, but he’ll have a hard time moving up the depth chart at a position the Rams are suddenly very strong at.
  • LAR Running Back
Rams waived RB J.D. Washington, CB Josh Lay, DT Tim Sandidge, LB Jamal Brooks, TE Mark Anelli, WRs Shaine Smith and Fred Gibson, Ts Drew Strojny and Ken Shackleford, kicker Kevin Lovell, and S Andre Kirkland.
Washington, Denzel’s son, played in NFL Europa this spring. Gibson’s time in the league is nearing its end. Lovell played well in the preseason and could be a practice squad candidate along with Shackleford.
  • LAR Running Back
Undrafted rookie RB John David Washington’s chances of making the Rams appear good, for now.
It’s possible the Rams could acquire more RB help, but Denzel’s son catches a break with Marshall Faulk likely out for the year. He’ll battle Fred Russell to be third on the depth chart in camp.
  • LAR Running Back
Rams released RB John David Washington, P Andy Groom, WRs Clinton Solomon, Taylor Stubblefield, Brandon Middleton, and Brad Pyatt, TE Alex Holmes, S Deandre Eiland, LB Mike Goolsby, DE Matthew Rice, and OLs Drew Strojny, Ben Noll, and Donovan Raiola.
Many of these players were undrafted rookies. The most notable, Washington, is the son of actor Denzel. Rice had three sacks in the second preseason game and is a candidate for the practice squad.
  • LAR Running Back
Rams signed running back John David Washington and wide receiver Marques Hagans to future contracts.
Both were 2006 rookies. Washington, Denzel’s son, could push Kay-Jay Harris off the roster in camp. Hagans has some punt-return upside.
  • KC Running Back
Free agent Quentin Griffin is currently the starting running back for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa.
Griffin is backed up by John David Washington (property of the Rams) and Tony Hollings, another free agent. Derrick Ross (Chiefs), Gerald Riggs Jr. (Bears), and Chris Barclay (Browns) are also in the league.
  • LAR Running Back
Travis Minor, signed to a one-year deal by St. Louis on Wednesday, is expected to be the Rams’ third or fourth running back in 2007.
Depending on the progress of J.D. Washington, Minor may not even be a lock to make the final roster. The Rams will likely add running back talent in the draft and/or pursue the re-signing of free agent Stephen Davis.
  • LAR Running Back
Rams signed undrafted free agents RB John David Washington, WR Clinton Solomon, and Cs Mike Degory and Donovan Raiola.
Washington is the son of actor Denzel. The 6-3 Solomon is a raw wideout who earned second-team All-Big Ten honors last year. Degory and Raiola were projected late-rounders. All four will compete for roster spots.
