Goodspeed

Goodspeed, Cowboys rookie C E.J. Whitley, Packers G Kevin Barry, and Saints LB James Allen have all suffered likely season-ending injuries during offseason “non-contact” drills. Goodspeed will have knee surgery for a torn ACL and miss the 2006 season.

Goodspeed is nothing spectacular at the fullback position and isn’t likely to be too involved in the St. Louis offense, but he is a solid blocker.

Ex-head man Mike Tice didn’t use a fullback in his offense but new coach Brad Childress looks like he’ll change that. Goodspeed would serve as the starter if the season started today.

He had to be escorted from the practice field. Likely the top backup behind Tony Richardson this season, Goodspeed was able to resume light jogging.

Signed in February, Goodspeed was slated to backup Tony Richardson. Converted tight end Richard Owens will likely move up the depth chart.

Goodpseed is likely out for 2006 after tearing his ACL Saturday.
