Cardinals released cornerback Dyshod Carter, guard-tackle Raleigh Roundtree, defensive tackle Joe Tafoya and linebacker Marcus Wilkins.
Expect Arizona to be the most active waiver wire team in the next few weeks.

Williams will help out with DeAngelo Hall out of the lineup.

Cardinals claimed defensive lineman Joe Tafoya off waivers from the Bears.
Tafoya could get most of his playing time for the Cardinals on special teams. He ranked second on the Bears with 14 special teams tackles last season.

Cardinals placed DE/LB Bertrand Berry (torn left triceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.
An MRI confirmed the Cardinals’ fears that Berry had suffered a season-ending injury for the third straight year. Journeyman Joe Tafoya and underachiever Darryl Blackstock will split time replacing him. The former Pro Bowler’s absence will hurt an inconsistent Arizona pass rush.
  • ARI Linebacker
The Cardinals believe DE/OLB Bertrand Berry suffered a torn left triceps in Sunday’s win over Detroit.
If so, this will be Berry’s second straight season ending on injured reserve due to a triceps tear. Joe Tafoya and Darryl Blackstock would combine replace Berry. Berry is under contract with Arizona through 2008.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Cardinals re-signed WR Jerheme Urban and DE/OLB Joe Tafoya to two-year contracts.
Urban, 27, caught 22 passes for 329 yards (15.0 YPC) and two TDs in 2007. He’s currently the favorite to be Arizona’s third receiver, with Steve Breaston and Ahmad Merritt also in the mix. Tafoya stays around to provide depth.
