They get rid of another player with past off-field issues. The Bengals were looking at Verdon as a possible 3-4 end, but have scrapped the idea of using that alignment at least for this season.

DE Jimmy Verdon was arrested and jailed last Sunday and charged with three misdemeanors, including battery of a police officer.

“He appeared to have been drinking,” Police Captain James Gallagher said. Verdon, a seventh-round pick in 2005, appeared in four games as a rookie.
