The Raiders reportedly considered free agent Jevan Snead while searching for a No. 5 quarterback this weekend, but instead opted for Colt Brennan.
It’s another bad sign for Snead, who easily cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent. Snead might want to explore opportunities in the UFL.

Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead was reportedly highly impressive in passing drills at the Rebels’ Tuesday Pro Day.
Snead has a cannon, so he was bound to perform well in shorts. According to SI’s Tony Pauline, scouts on hand said Snead’s Pro Day was the most impressive of any quarterback’s so far. The Steelers are said to be “very interested” in the ultra-talented, if highly inconsistent underclassman.

One veteran NFL scout opined to Profootballtalk.com that the main reason Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead declared for the 2010 NFL Draft is because ESPN’s Todd McShay predicted Snead would be a top-five pick.
“The (Snead) family thought McShay knew and everyone else was wrong,” the scout said. "(Snead) has problems with game management, accuracy and leadership...but pretty boy Todd thought he was great because of (the Cotton Bowl) a year ago. McShay is a pretty face who comes across like he knows what he is talking about. He does have good presence, but knows nothing.”

ESPN’s Mel Kiper believes Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead’s “best case scenario” would be getting drafted in the fourth round.
ESPN’s Todd McShay agreed, citing Snead’s questionable decision to declare for the draft early “without any momentum.” Snead, who couldn’t beat out Colt McCoy at Texas before transferring to play with the Rebels, was wildly inconsistent as a junior. He’s no more than a long-term project at this level.
  • TB Quarterback
Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead has reportedly decided to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
Snead led Ole Miss to a victory in the Cotton Bowl, but he was in danger of losing his starting job for next season. Though his physical tools may earn him an early-round grade, Snead’s numbers suggest he’s a bust wasting to happen. His accuracy and decision-making have been suspect, and he’s never completed even 57 percent of his passes in a season.
  • TB Quarterback
Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead reportedly stood out among quarterbacks in passing drills at the Scouting Combine.
Meanwhile, Cincinnati’s Tony Pike struggled “quite a bit” on vertical throws after showing well on passes inside the numbers, as expected. Snead was “accurate on every level” and excelled on the deep ball. Snead was not accurate at Ole Miss, never topping 56.3% completions in a college season.
  • TB Quarterback
Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead and Oregon RB LaGarrette Blount were among those who went undrafted this weekend.
We remember reading last year that Snead would be a top-ten pick and wondering how a quarterback with major accuracy issues could go that high. Snead got bad advice when he came out as a junior. Blount was plagued by character concerns, though his upright running style with little wiggle also presented a problem. Michigan CB Donovan Warren, who also went undrafted, tweeted that he’s signing with the Jets.

Bucs signed Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead.
Projected to be a high first-round pick before the start of the 2009 season, Snead ended up as the biggest name of the undrafted players. The Bucs had just Rudy Carpenter behind Josh Freeman and Josh Johnson, so he should at least have an opportunity to make the final roster.
  • TB Quarterback
The Seahawks worked out former Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead Tuesday.
Snead got horrible advice when he was convinced to leave college after his junior season, as he went undrafted. He’s been twice released by the Bucs and the quarterback-starved Seahawks didn’t immediately sign him.

    Bucs re-signed QB Jevan Snead.
The undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss receives a roster reprieve with Josh Freeman (thumb) out until the season opener. He’ll function as the No. 3 QB behind Josh Johnson and Rudy Carpenter until Freeman returns.
