He’s fifth on the depth chart. McDougle, a former first-round pick, was solid in training camp workouts before suffering broken ribs.

McDougle, the hard-luck Eagle who missed last season after getting shot, was competing to be the team’s third defensive end. Trent Cole will perform the role now, with Juqua Thomas earning more snaps. In other Eagles news, the team lost reserve linebacker Greg Richmond to neck surgery, probably for the season.

Jamaal Green is likely to fill in for McDougle.

Other Eagles players who are “day-to-day” include guard Jeremy Mayberry, LB Mark Simoneau, LB Nate Wayne, and DT Corey Simon. Wayne appears the least likely to play this week.

He sat out practice yesterday and is listed as doubtful.

Coach Andy Reid said McDougle could be ready to play next week.
