Strong safety Jerome Carter suffered a strained Achilles’ tendon last night.
Carter left in the second quarter and did not return.
  • DAL Defensive Back
Rams rookie Jerome Carter has been playing strong safety in camp.
Carter’s apparently looked good. He could have some IDP value if he secures the starting job. Don’t be surprised if fellow rookie Oshiomogho Atogwe surpasses him at some point.
  • DAL Defensive Back
Rams placed S Jerome Carter on injured reserve with a fractured foot, ending his season.
The special teamer will be a restricted free agent in 2008, and doesn’t figure to be tendered highly by St. Louis next offseason. Carter never emerged as an effective piece of the secondary after being drafted in 2005.
  • LAR Defensive Back
Rams SS Corey Chavous (pectorals) has been ruled out for Week 5.
Jerome Carter and Todd Johnson will likely split safety duties Sunday.
  • DAL Defensive Back
Rams SS Jerome Carter suffered a fractured foot Sunday.
Carter, a special teamer who has never made a positive impact in St. Louis’ base defense, will likely be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
  • LAR Defensive Back
Rams SS Corey Chavous is not expected to play in Week 6.
Chavous, who is dealing with a strained pecs muscle, may miss another two-to-three weeks. With Jerome Carter (broken foot) and Todd Johnson (neck sprain) sidelined, Ron Bartell could start at safety against Baltimore.
  • DAL Defensive Back
    Cowboys waived S Jerome Carter.
The former Ram was signed in January as a possible special teamer.
  • WAS Wide Receiver
Rams waived WR Marques Hagans, S Jerome Carter, WR Matt Caddell, TE Nick Cleaver, CB Tanard Davis, CB Cortney Grixby, C Donovan Raiola, LB Marcus Riley, and DLs Henry Smith and Willie Williams.
Hagans saw time on punt returns and caught eight passes last year, but he’s no more than a slot receiver with suspect hands. Carter was a fourth-round pick in 2005 and could contribute elsewhere on special teams.
  • DAL Defensive Back
The Rams didn’t tender contracts to restricted free agents S Jerome Carter and Trevor Johnson.
Making them both unrestricted free agents. Carter hasn’t done much since being taken in the fourth round and is coming off a broken foot.
  • DAL Defensive Back
    Rams re-signed S Jerome Carter.
The Rams declined to offer Carter a $927,000 deal in restricted free agency, so his deal is likely for less. Carter’s defensive playing time has dwindled since his rookie year in 2005. He won’t push SS Corey Chavous to start.
