Commanders agreed to terms with S Jeremy Reaves on a two-year contract.
Reaves’ season ended early in 2023 when he suffered a partially torn ACL in Week 5. The veteran safety normally plays a mix of defense and special teams but hadn’t logged a defensive snap on the year before going down with the injury. Even if he is only a special teamer these days, Reaves is a key contributor in that regard and was on pace to log over 300 special teams snaps for the second year in a row.

Commanders S Jeremy Reaves (knee) will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Reaves suffered a partially torn ACL in the Commanders’ Week 5 loss against the Bears and was initially placed on injured reserve. Now set to undergo surgery, the Commanders’ special teams ace will miss the remainder of the 2023 season but should recover in time to training camp next season. Reaves signed a one-year contract earlier this offseason but could soon earn a long-term contract from the Commanders.

Commanders signed S Jeremy Reaves to a one-year contract.
Reaves was a restricted free agent and the Commanders tendered a qualifying offer to him. He got some run as a defensive back last year but made his money on special teams. Reaves logged 374 special teams snaps and was named First-Team All-Pro as a special teamer. His work also earned him a Pro Bowl nod. Washington will likely look to sign him to a long-term deal soon.

Eagles signed South Alabama S Jeremy Reaves.
Reaves (5’11/204) was a three-year starter and four-year contributor in the Jaguars’ secondary, logging eight career interceptions and winning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. He also earned PFF College’s No. 6 safety grade in the entire nation in 2017, yet was still snubbed for a Combine invite. His Pro Day results were sub-par with a 4.66 forty and 31-inch vertical. Despite his outstanding career against lower-level competition, Reaves’ athletic results lower his probability of finding a starting home in the NFL. He should be plus special teams contributor.
