Chiefs coach Herm Edwards says Dwayne Bowe will be a key part of the team’s receiver rotation to open the season, along with Jeff Webb.
It sounds like Bowe won’t start, but will be used on running downs as a blocker and in the red zone because of his size. Webb is likely the fourth receiver, with split end Samie Parker and flanker Eddie Kennison starting.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Samie Parker will move to the bench with Eddie Kennison healthy and ready to rejoin the Chiefs’ starting lineup.
Parker and Jeff Webb will likely split third receiver duties, while Dwayne Bowe and Kennison run with the first unit. Parker made virtually no impact as a starter, catching just eight passes for 90 yards and no TDs in four games.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Chiefs WR Chris Hannon ‘appears to be the third wide receiver,’ according to Scout.com.
Hannon practiced with the first team as Eddie Kennison sat out while Jeff Webb was “nowhere to be seen.” It is still early, but Hannon appears to have the lead over Webb, while first-round pick Dwayne Bowe remains a holdout.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Samie Parker has struggled with drops at Chiefs camp.
He’s lining up as a starter, but that just isn’t likely to last. Chris Hannon, Jeff Webb, and Dwayne Bowe (once he signs) should make Parker more of a special teams player and situational slot receiver. He’s no longer a fantasy option, but the younger guys haven’t stepped up.
  • PIT Wide Receiver
Eddie Drummond worked out for the Chiefs on Saturday.
Drummond would replace Jeff Webb as the team’s kick returner. The addition of Drummond could be bad news for backup returner and fifth WR Chris Hannon.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Chiefs WR Jeff Webb caught four passes for 59 yards on Sunday.
Coach Herm Edwards has said he wants to get the second-year player more involved, and the absence of Eddie Kennison should help. Still, Webb doesn’t have fantasy value.
  • KC Wide Receiver
“Talk has surfaced” in Kansas City that Dwayne Bowe could challenge for Eddie Kennison’s starting job.
Bowe and Kennison are such different players, it still seems more likely that they would start opposite each other. Herm Edwards is a big fan of Jeff Webb, so it’s a situation to keep monitoring. Kennison still remains likely to keep his job.
  • LV Wide Receiver
With Dwayne Bowe holding out, Samie Parker and Eddie Kennison have been the Chiefs’ starting wide receivers early in training camp.
Parker isn’t expected to be starting by the time the season rolls around, but he’s ahead of Jeff Webb at the moment. He’s more likely to challenge for punt-return duties and see time in three-receiver sets out of the slot.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Jeff Webb caught seven passes for 78 yards in Week 6.
Webb took over for Samie Parker after Parker left with a knee injury in the first quarter and was the recipient of several short passes. The 6-2/211-pound sophomore player won’t be a fantasy option in Week 6 against Oakland.
  • LV Wide Receiver
The Chiefs are trying Samie Parker as a punt returner.
The likely former starter will need to carve out some type of role to make the team. Parker is likely behind Jeff Webb and Dwayne Bowe at this point.
