Rowe, 26, was inked to a reserve/future contract in January but failed to stick with the Pats through OTAs. He was a fifth-round pick in 2007.

Rowe doesn’t have the biggest arm but is accurate and has good experience coming from Nevada as a three-year starter. He’ll likely be the Bengals’ emergency QB as a rookie, behind Carson Palmer and Doug Johnson.

It’s not certain if Fitzpatrick will replace backup Doug Johnson, who had a tough game on Thursday, or rookie third-stringer Jeff Rowe on the roster. Unless the Rams make another move, Brock Berlin becomes their No. 3 quarterback.

Teel, the team’s sixth-round pick, beat out free agent Jeff Rowe. The former Rutgers standout has a big arm and fits a West Coast system nicely.

The coaches decided to go with Carson Palmer’s brother Jordan over Rowe, their fifth-round pick in the ’07 draft. Palmer has the stronger arm.

A rare quality pickup for GM Tim Ruskell. A fifth-round pick out of Nevada in 2007, Rowe offers some mobility and can throw on the run. He was a highly accurate passer in college and profiles well in a West Coast passing attack. Rowe certainly has more long-term potential than Charlie Frye.

Nevada’s Jeff Rowe will be groomed as Johnson’s eventual replacement and be inactive as the Bengals’ emergency quarterback on game days.
