Bills selected Troy EDGE Javon Solomon with the No. 168 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A hugely productive Edge who earned All-SBC honors in four consecutive seasons, Solomon (6’1/246) broke out in 2021 leading the Trojans with 17 TFL and 11 sacks. Though his 2022 output was more pedestrian with 4.5 sacks and 7.5 TFL, the Tallahassee native improved every aspect of his game while exploding for an FBS-leading 16 sacks, 18 TFLs and three forced fumbles. He frequently wins with speed, motor, and a polished swipe off the edge. While only being 6’1, his 33 ⅞ inch arms allow him to play bigger than his size. He often uses his lengthy wingspan and natural leverage to push tackles back into the lap of the QB. When defending the run, he is skillful with his hands but is overwhelmed by mauling tackles. He sheds blocks well and often finds himself with a shot at the ball carrier, but projecting him as an above average run defender is hard. His frame may not be capable of adding much more productive weight, and surviving on early downs at his current size will be a challenge.
