Falcons backup RB Jason Wright tallied 80 total yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut.
Wright is battling Deandra Cobb, who didn’t play, for Atlanta’s No. 3 running back job. Wright had 19 carries for 44 yards and three catches for 36 yards.

Browns RB Jason Wright ran ahead of William Green Saturday night.
Wright carried five times for 16 yards. Green had 19 yards on three rushes. Lee Suggs did not touch the football.

GM Phil Savage says Jason Wright is the Browns’ backup running back.
Savage told the Associated Press that Wright’s consistency in the preseason earned him the job over fifth-round rookie Jerome Harrison, who averaged 6.2 yards-per-exhibition-carry. Wright isn’t worth owning in fantasy leagues, but both backups are worth monitoring.

Browns declared RB Jason Wright, LB David McMillan, DB Daylon McCutcheon, OL Isaac Sowell, OL Kelly Butler, QB Ken Dorsey, and WR Travis Wilson inactive for Week 1.
Wright’s inclusion is a surprise. The team’s GM called Wright their backup running back Saturday, but that obviously isn’t the case. Jerome Harrison will get snaps behind Reuben Droughns.

    Falcons released RB Jason Wright.
This one is a surprise. He was believed to be Atlanta’s third running back.
  • ARI Running Back
Browns signed RB Jason Wright to their active roster.
With William Green hurt, Wrigth will backup Reuben Droughns this week. He was with the Falcons in training camp.

Coach Romeo Crennel re-iterated he’ll likely go to Jason Wright at running back if Reuben Droughns needs to come out of the game.
Crennel described Wright as “not very tall, but he has excellent quickness and [is] able to change directions pretty quickly as he goes through the hole. His smarts and his quickness - those are the two things that are most noticeable about him. He can also catch the ball coming out of the backfield.”

Jason Wright rushed eight times for 19 yards and a touchdown in week nine.
Learn the name. With Reuben Droughns hurt, this former Falcons practice squader could start for the Browns next week. Lee Suggs and William Green are also hurt.
  • FA Running Back #36
Browns RB Jerome Harrison caught six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown on Saturday night.
He rushed six times for only 13 yards. Jason Wright rushed six times for 19 yards and a touchdown, and also had 3 catches for 27 yards. Harrison’s solid receiving numbers should give him a leg-up in the competition to be Cleveland’s third-down back.
  • CLE Running Back
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen said on Wednesday’s edition of Total Access that Jamal Lewis (foot) is unlikely to play in Week 6.
Eisen doesn’t normally break news, but his doesn’t come as a surprise, as the Browns rarely hold players completely out of Wednesday practices, then use them on Sundays. Lewis was in a protective boot during the workout, and Jason Wright looks likely to start against the Dolphins.
