Raiders acquired OLB Kamerion Wimbley from the Browns in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Wimbley, the No. 13 overall pick in 2006, is just 26 years old and led Cleveland in sacks last season, so the move is surprising at first glance. However, the Browns have stockpiled quality depth at outside linebacker, and could turn to Marcus Benard (3.5 sacks in ’09), trusty Jason Trusnik, gifted Alex Hall, or 2009 second-round pick David Veikune opposite Matt Roth. In Oakland, Wimbley will likely start at left defensive end, replacing Greg Ellis. He’ll be playing with his hand in the dirt for the first time since Florida State.

Dolphins signed LB Jason Trusnik to a two-year, $2.17 million extension in November.
The deal included a $600,000 signing bonus. Trusnik, a reserve linebacker and special teams player, is now under contract through the 2014 season. The 28-year-old has appeared in all 15 games this season, starting two games at strong-side linebacker, and has amassed 21 tackles.
  • NO Linebacker #57
    Saints signed LB Jason Trusnik.
This is Trusnik’s 10th season. He spent eight games with the Vikings last year but had been out of the league all of 2016. Trusnik is purely a special teamer.
  • NO Linebacker #57
Panthers signed LB Jason Trusnik, formerly of the Dolphins, to a one-year contract.
An eight-year veteran, Trusnik played both inside and out for the Dolphins last season, logging 397 snaps. He appeared in all 16 games, making six starts. He’ll be a run-stopping specialist and special teamer in Carolina.
  • NO Linebacker #57
Free agent LB Jason Trusnik is visiting the Jets.
Trusnik logged 397 snaps last season, mostly playing at inside linebacker. A non-existent pass rusher who struggles in coverage, Trusnik’s main focus is run-stopping. Defending the run was one of the few things New York did well last season. Trusnik would merely be a depth signing behind starters David Harris and Demario Davis.
  • NO Linebacker #57
Jets placed OLB Jason Trusnik on injured reserve, ending his season.
Trusnik, a rookie, made 8 tackles (4 solo) after being signed off the practice squad in early November. He’ll return to push for a roster spot in 2008.

Browns acquired special teamer Jason Trusnik as part of the Braylon Edwards deal.
Trusnik, a reserve-caliber linebacker, is an excellent on special teams. He can help the winless Browns there immediately, but won’t contribute on defense.
  • NO Linebacker #57
Jets placed LB Jason Trusnik on the PUP list.
If the Jets want him back, he’ll be available to them in Week 7.
  • NO Linebacker #57
Jason Trusnik has started the past two games at outside linebacker for the Browns.
“I think we really got someone special here that we can develop,” coordinator Rob Ryan said of the Braylon Edwards trade throw-in. “He’ll be a final part of our defense for years to come.” Trusnik is coming off an eight-tackle game after pushing David Bowens back inside.
