  • SEA Kicker #5
Seahawks signed K Jason Myers to a four-year, $21.1 million extension.
The Seahawks wasted little time in securing Myers, who was set to hit free agency this offseason. Myers was named to the NFC’s Pro Bowl roster after converting on 34-of-37 field goal attempts this season while making all but one of his 42 extra point attempts. In 2021, Myers converted a career-low 74 percent of his field goal attempts and was thought by many to be a potential cap casualty. Now, after one of the best seasons of his career, it appears he’ll be with the Seahawks well into the foreseeable future. Myers’ deal makes him the second-highest-paid kicker in the NFL behind Baltimore’s Justin Tucker.

The Seahawks can create $4 million in cap space from releasing Jason Myers.
Myers posted career lows in 2021, converting 74% of field goals with three missed extra points and a 37% touchback rate. From a cap standpoint, it’s an easy decision for Seattle to move on from a kicker that played at replacement level last season. The Seahawks could use the money saved from Myers toward re-signing free agents Quandre Diggs, D.J. Reed, and Duane Brown.

Seahawks agreed to terms with K Jason Myers, formerly of the Jets, on a four-year contract.
Myers spent last summer with the Seahawks before being cut in August. He latched on with the Jets and beat out Taylor Bertolet for the job. Myers went on to hit 33-of-36 field goals and 30-of-33 extra points en route to a Pro Bowl selection. His 91.7% success rate on field goals is nearly seven percentage points higher than his career average. Myers will replaces Sebastian Janikowski in Seattle and be paid as one of the league’s premier kickers.

The Jaguars passed on signing free agent K Dan Carpenter after his workout on Friday.
Jason Myers has missed 3-of-4 field goals this preseason. “I think he’s well aware of the situation he’s in,” said coach Doug Marrone. “He has to go out there and perform well and earn the trust of his coaches as well as his teammates.” While Myers’ job is safe for the time being, he can’t afford any more slip-ups.

    Jaguars released K Jason Myers.
Josh Lambo was signed to replace him. Myers missed two kicks including a critical one late in the loss to the Rams on Sunday, his third and fourth misses of the young season. Reasonably solid his first two years with Jacksonville, Myers will likely get a shot somewhere else down the line.

Cowboys will work out free agent Ks Jason Myers, Mike Nugent, Sam Irwin Hill, and Younghoe Koo.
The workouts are necessary with Dan Bailey (groin) injured, although the Cowboys have yet to rule him out for this week’s matchup with the Redskins. Myers was let go by the Jaguars last week, Koo opened the season with the Chargers, and Irwin Hill spent time with the Cowboys in training camp.

Coach Gus Bradley said the Jaguars haven’t ruled out bringing in a kicker to challenge Jason Myers.
Myers’ rookie year has gotten off to a rough start. So far he’s missed three field goals, as well as three extra points. Randy Bullock, Billy Cundiff, Kyle Brindza, Zach Hocker and Josh Scobee are all available in free agency.

The Jaguars are sticking with K Jason Myers.
A third-year UDFA, Myers is a first-year starter. He’s 7-of-10 on field goals, but has shanked two extra points. Flatly, he cost the Jags the game on Sunday. Either way, the Jags’ kicking situation is far from the worst in the league. There isn’t an obvious upgrade on the free agent market.

    Seahawks waived K Jason Myers.
Myers lost the team’s kicking competition to veteran Sebastian Janikowski. The 27-year-old has a big leg—his career long is 58 yards—though he’s converted just 77.6 percent of his attempts since the start of 2016.

Jets claimed K Jason Myers off waivers from the Seahawks.
The Jets made room for him by cutting injured WR Jonah Trinnaman. Myers was cut Monday after losing the starting kicker job to Sebastian Janikowski in Seattle. His main competition in New York will come from Texas A&M alum Taylor Bertolet. The Jets are expected to move on from Cairo Santos, who has missed most of the summer with a groin injury.
