Drew Bledsoe could be an option as a backup for the Saints, according to the Biloxi Sun Herald.
This is probably just speculation, but Bledsoe has ties to coach Sean Payton. Jamie Martin, 37, has failed to impress in offseason workouts. Undrafted rookie Tyler Palko and Jason Fife are New Orleans’ other options currently. Bledsoe announced his retirement in April and didn’t seem interested in backing up.
  • WAS Quarterback
Saints waived QB Jason Fife, LB Desmond Sims, CB Joseph Porter, and WR Aaron Hosack.
Fife actually spent time on the team’s active roster last year, but coach Sean Payton decided that Tyler Palko has better long-term upside. Sims was an undrafted player out of Arkansas. He may be claimed off waivers.
  • WAS Quarterback
Redskins signed QB Jason Fife to their practice squad.
Fife, a second year player who spent a little time on the Saints’ active roster last season, will provide depth if something happens to Todd Collins or Mark Brunell while Jason Campbell recovers from his dislocated left kneecap.
  • WAS Quarterback
Redskins released QB Jason Fife from their practice squad.
He was replaced by former Maryland signal caller Sam Hollenbach, who will be Washington’s third quarterback while Jason Campbell (knee) is out.
  • WAS Quarterback
    Saints waived QB Jason Fife.
The Oregon alum spent a few inactive weeks on New Orleans’ roster. The Saints are expected to add a tight end with Ernie Conwell (knee surgery) sidelined indefinitely. Fife’s release clears a space.
  • WAS Quarterback
Saints re-signed quarterback Jason Fife to an undisclosed contract.
Fife, who went undrafted out of Oregon last year, surprisingly spent a small chunk of the 2006 regular season on New Orleans’ active roster. He’ll battle to be the Saints’ third quarterback in training camp.
