Jets declared DT Al Woods, WR Jason Brownlee, OL Wes Schweitzer, LB Zaire Barnes, and S Tony Adams inactive for Week 4 against the Chiefs.
Brownlee, the promising undrafted free agent wide receiver, has yet to force his way into an active status on game day despite retaining a spot on the 53-man roster. Fellow undrafted free agent wide receiver Xavier Gipson is active an expected to continue serving as the team’s primary kick returner.

Saints signed Southern Mississippi WR Jason Brownlee.
Brownlee’s (6’2/198) collegiate career began in 2018 at East Mississippi Community College, but the tall, lanky wideout caught on with Southern Miss at the start of 2020. With over 2,000 receiving yards to his name, Brownlee never crested 1,000 yards in a season but averaged a solid 15.9 YPR while proving valuable on contested targets thanks in part to his elite vertical jump. Brownlee hauled in 15-of-33 contested targets in his senior season and will compete for anything that comes his way. Poor quarterback play did little to help Brownlee tap into his upside, with Southern Miss occasionally running a full-on Wildcat offense in hopes of generating yards. He’ll make for an interesting developmental player at the next level, especially playing alongside NFL talent.

Southern Miss junior WR Jason Brownlee caught nine passes for 120 yards and one touchdown during Saturday’s 35-10 loss to Middle Tennessee State.
Brownlee (6'3/195) hooked up with quarterback Jake Lange on a 13-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter to give Southern Miss an early 7-0 lead over the Blue Raiders. It would be the only touchdown that Southern Miss would score, as Brownlee was the lone bright spot on an offense that struggled to get anything going in this as they were held to just 247 total yards. Saturday marked Brownlee’s second game of 100+ yards as he now has 29 receptions for 374 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Southern Miss will look to end a six game skid next week when they host North Texas.

  • KC Wide Receiver #89
Southern Miss junior WR Jason Brownlee snagged eight passes for 127 yards in a 24-17 los on Saturday to Rice.
A monster game for Brownlee, but the 6-foot-3, 192-pound wideout was unable to find the end zone in a loss to the Owls. It’s nice to see after her was an afterthought the previous three games, hauling in a total of nine passes for just 63 yards in those contests. Expect Brownlee to be a big part of the offense going forward; including next Saturday against UTEP.

  • KC Wide Receiver #89
Southern Miss junior WR Jason Brownlee caught three passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in Thursday’s 45-31 win over FAU.
In a game lacking in explosive passing plays, Brownlee (6'3/195) provided the lone spark. Brownlee’s 43-yard scoring haul early in the third quarter was the longest reception of the day by either team by about 15 yards. Teammate RB Frank Gore Jr. bested him for the longest play with a 73-yard run, but at least Brownlee could take the title through the air. Brownlee has been somewhat quiet as of late, largely due to USM’s quarterback issues. It’s a nice sign for him that he was able to bounce back in this one with his fourth 80-plus yard game of the season, topping off an otherwise solid junior campaign.

  • KC Wide Receiver #89
Southern Miss junior WR Jason Brownlee caught five passes for 114 yards with a touchdown in a 56-35 loss to Liberty on Saturday.
Brownlee averaged a slick 22.8 YPR. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound JUCO import from East Mississippi Community College -- better known as the first Last Chance U -- has gone over 100 yards in back-to-back-to-back games. The Eagles will look to get back on track at home against Rice next weekend.

  • KC Wide Receiver #89
Southern Miss junior WR Jason Brownlee caught four passes for 110 yards with a touchdown in a 41-31 win over North Texas on Saturday.
Most of this yardage came on one play; a 68-yard touchdown from the right arm of Jack Abraham. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound wideout transferred to USM from East Mississippi Community College -- you know it better as Last Chance U, at least the first two seasons of that program -- and has gone over 100 yards in back-to-back games. Brownlee can make it a third in a row if he does so next Saturday against Florida Atlantic.
