    Raiders released DB Jaquan Johnson.
Johnson was signed to a one-year deal by the Raiders earlier this offseason but won’t be on the 53-man roster at the conclusion of cut-down day. The veteran safety has appeared in 60 games through four seasons with the Bills and could still serve as valuable depth to a secondary while also playing special teams.

Raiders signed S Jaquan Johnson, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract.
Johnson was a sixth-round draft pick of the Bills in 2019 and has played in 60 games through four seasons. With just four career starts under his belt, Johnson will likely serve as additional depth in the Raiders’ secondary while also contributing on special teams.

  • FA Defensive Back #4
Bills selected Miami S Jaquan Johnson with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Johnson (5’10/191) made 29 starts in four seasons at The U, compiling 15 career pass breakups, eight picks, and six forced fumbles and earning second-team All-ACC as a senior. PFF College credited Johnson with a stingy 44.1 passer rating when targeted in 2018, and his 6.0% missed tackle rate was the best among all ACC safeties. Unfortunately, Johnson’s fringe athleticism was exposed at the Combine with fifth-percentile SPARQ results and 4.69 “speed.” Johnson best projects as a low-end NFL safety whose contributions may be limited to special teams.
