Reed

The deal is believed to be for the veteran’s minimum, $585,000. Reed, a five-year veteran, is coming off easily the most productive season of his career. He could push Lional Dalton, Ryan Sims, John Browning, and Ron Edwards to start along the Chiefs’ defensive front.

Both players were signed during the offseason. Edwards was a reserve for the Bills in 2005. Lional Dalton and former top-ten pick Ryan Sims are currently at the bottom of the depth chart.

Reed suffered a torn Achilles in training camp, and it could very well end his career. Reed was nearly out of football before signing last week.

McGill was out of football last year. Reed couldn’t make the Chiefs’ game day roster at DT, which is a very bad sign. Gunn was strictly a camp body.

Reed, a Herm Edwards guy, fell off the game-day roster last season and finished with only three tackles. He had 102 between 2005 and 2006.

Reed left in the first half and never returned. Ryan Sims and Jimmy Wilkerson will step in if Reed can’t play against the Browns in Week 13.

Either Ryan Sims or Jimmy Wilkerson will replace Reed against Cleveland on Sunday. If the Browns had anything close to an exciting running back play, Reed’s loss might help his matchup.

He remains uncertain to play in Week 14.
