Peters measured in at 6-foot-2, 218-pounds at the measurement portion, so he wasn’t expected to post a great time in Indianapolis. That being said, this is not a great time for a corner, and it ranks as the fourth slowest time of anyone at the position who ran on Monday. He’s viewed as a press corner that ranks as a Day 3 prospect, and he didn’t do anything with this time to help improve that stock.

Peters (6'2/220) began his Mississippi State career at safety before moving to corner before the 2016 season. The senior corner appeared in eight games this season due to injury, accounting for 28 total tackles, one tackle for loss and four pass breakups. DraftScout.com has Peters ranked sixth among draft-eligible cornerbacks, with his size and physicality being strongpoints. However, in September Jon Ledyard of The Draft Network expressed some concern about Peters’ ability in press coverage. “Is easily beaten off the line of scrimmage by savvy receivers who create separation early in the pattern,” Ledyard wrote.

Peters was one of four who picked up an ejection for the fight at the end of the third quarter of Mississippi State’s Egg Bowl victory. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound defender could see further discipline; possibly a first-half suspension for the Bulldogs’ bullpen at the end of the year.

Peters is reportedly week-to-week with the leg injury. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound defender has struggled so far in 2018, but it could be injury-related, or at least somewhat due to the leg bothering him. Maurice Smitherman and Tyler Williams should get most of the snaps at corner as long as Peters is out.

“The Bulldogs lost some key starters from last year’s squad and will be counting on the talented freshman to contribute right away,” wrote College Football 24/7 writer Bryan Fischer. “Dan Mullen hasn’t typically relied heavily on true freshmen, but Peters will immediately be involved in the secondary and play a big role in rebuilding the team’s defense in a difficult SEC West.” The team has intended to immediately play Peters, their best recruit, from the start. “Our plans are to play as many that can come in and develop and are ready,” MSU assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Tony Hughes said of the team’s freshmen crop. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound Peters already is SEC-sized.
