Colts placed rookie OT Jake Witt (hip) on injured reserve.
Witt joins safety Daniel Scott on injured reserve before their respective rookie seasons could begin. Both players were expected to challenge for depth roles in 2023 but will now be forced to rehab this year in an effort to return to health in time for 2024.

Colts selected Northern Michigan OT Jake Witt with the No. 236 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Wiit (6’7.125/302) was a basketball player coming out of high school, originally playing for Michigan Tech. He joined the Northern Michigan football team in 2020 where he signed up to play tight end. In his first season of college football, Witt switched to right tackle and played for the last eleven games. Needless to say, experience is not the driving factor in this evaluation. Though he wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, he received plenty of attention on Top 30 visits around the league. He utilizes his basketball background to effectively mirror defenders, while his basketball frame aids in balanced strength that is ready to explode at any moment. He is a long-term project that will need extensive attention and teaching. But the frame and potential are visible to anyone paying attention. Witt is raw but has the potential to be a starter down the road.
