ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have signed Melvin Gordon to their active roster.
This move comes as no shock after Keaton Mitchell suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Gordon last played in Week 4 as a rotational piece in the Ravens’ backfield and likely will do so going forward. The Ravens also signed Jake Funk to their practice squad. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill should continue to lead the backfield, but Gordon is a veteran who can handle reps when needed.
  • Running Back #34
Jake Funk had two rushes for ten yards in the Colts’ Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, adding one reception for 12 yards.
Funk was forced into second half snaps against Jacksonville after Evan Hull left the game with a knee injury and Deon Jackson struggled mightily as the team’s lead back. Funk could see decent run in Week 2 against the Texans if Hull is sidelined. All of this week’s Colts running backs will be droppable once Jonathan Taylor (ankle) returns from the PUP list in Week 5.
  • IND Running Back #35
Deon Jackson had 13 carries for 14 yards in the Colts’ Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, adding five receptions for 14 yards.
Jackson, the centerpiece of the Colts offensive game plan, was horrendous from start to finish. It’s difficult to remember a more inefficient running back performance, as Jackson took handoff after handoff from Anthony Richardson and did absolutely nothing with them. Forced into a heavy workload because Evan Hull (knee) was sidelined, Jackson’s role as primary back has to come into serious question before Indy’s Week 2 game against Houston. Jake Funk appeared to be a far superior option to Jackson late in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars.
  • Running Back #36
    Rams waived RB Jake Funk.
They needed the roster spot in an offensive line rash. He’ll likely be with the Rams practice squad if he clears waivers. Funk had two rushes for last year’s world champions and could be an interesting claim for an RB-needy team.

  • Running Back #36
Rams declared RB Jake Funk, QB Bryce Perkins, OLB Chris Garrett, OLB Terrell Lewis, DL Bobby Brown, OL Tremayne Anchrum and DB Blake Countess inactive for Super Bowl LVI against the Bengals.
With Tyler Higbee (knee) on injured reserve, it’s a quiet list for the biggest game of the year. With Darrell Henderson off injured reserve, Funk’s services were no longer needed. The No. 233 overall pick of the draft, Funk ended up remaining on the 53-man roster all year, though he handled the ball just two times during the regular season. Even with Sony Michel headed to free agency, 24-year-old Funk will have to fight to keep his roster spot next summer.

  • Running Back #36
Rams placed RB Jake Funk on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Funk has a torn hamstring, also known as a strain, though the exact severity of it is unknown after he went down in Week 6 against the Giants. Surgery has been recommended, which will likely end the rookie’s season. Funk carried the ball one time for six yards behind Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel.

  • Running Back #36
Jake Funk (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of the Rams’ Week 6 game against the Giants.
Funk plays exclusively on special teams. Even when Darrell Henderson was out in Week 3, Funk had just one carry. His injury doesn’t change the Rams’ offense in any way.

  • Running Back #36
Jake Funk had one rush for six yards in the Rams’ Week 3 win against the Bucs.
Sony Michel dominated the LA backfield with Darrell Henderson (ribs) out of the lineup. Funk can be stashed in deeper formats. He would presumably be the next guy up for the Rams if Michel were to miss time.

  • LAR Running Back #25
Rams declared Darrell Henderson (ribs), Bryce Perkins, JuJu Hughes, JR Reed, Alaric Jackson, Brycen Hopkins, and Bobby Brown III inactive for Week 3 against the Bucs.
The oft-injured Henderson exited the Rams’ Week 2 game and was never expected to suit up against Tampa. That leaves Sony Michel as the team’s lead back; Jake Funk will likely spell Michel until Henderson is back. Michel could see some volume by default against the NFL’s toughest run defense.

  • LAR Running Back #25
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Darrell Henderson (ribs) “is not expected to play” in Week 3 against the Buccaneers.
Henderson suffered the rib injury last week and ultimately ceded work to Jake Funk and Sony Michel in the second half of the Rams’ Week 2 win. Funk was the first back to enter the game, casting some doubt on the idea that Sony Michel will immediately step into a workhorse role once Henderson is officially ruled out. Still, Los Angeles sent multiple picks to New England for Michel so it’s safe to assume he’ll get the first crack at the starting gig. Michel slots in as an RB2 with Henderson presumed out and Funk is worth stashing in deeper leagues.
