Jets placed Greg Zuerlein (knee) on injured reserve.
Greg Joseph will be kicking for the Jets this week against the Dolphins. Zuerlein was activated off injured reserve last week and was technically active, but did not participate in the game as all as Thomas Morstead handled kickoffs and the Jets did not attempt an extra point after falling behind 40-0.

Jets K Greg Zuerlein will play in Week 17 against the Bills.
Zuerlein was placed on injured reserve back in November after suffering a knee injury in Week 8 against the Patriots. Zuerlein struggled before landing on IR, converting on just 9-of-15 field goals while making 13-of-14 extra points; now he’ll hope to end the season on a strong note over the final two weeks. Now 37, Zuerlein is on the back nine of his pro career, but still showed plenty of long-distance abilities as recently as 2023 when he converted on 5-of-6 field goals from 50-plus yards.

Jets signed K Anders Carlson to their practice squad.
With the signing of Carlson comes the release of veteran Riley Patterson, who kicked for the Jets in their Week 9 win over the Texans. Carlson, who has kicked in two games for the 49ers this season, has gone 5-for-5 on his fields goals and 3-for-4 on his extra points, with three of his field goals coming from 40-plus yards out. The Jets are still hoping to have Greg Zuerlein (knee) back at some point in the season, but it looks like it will be Carlson kicking in Week 10 against the Cardinals.

Jets placed Greg Zuerlein (knee) on injured reserve.
A knee injury may have been to blame for Zuerlein’s recent struggles, as the veteran kicker has converted on just three of his last seven field goal attempts. Now on injured reserve, Zuerlein will miss at least the next four games while recovering from his injury and won’t be eligible to come off IR until Week 14 when the Jets visit the Dolphins. The Jets signed kickers Riley Patterson and Spencer Shrader to their practice squad earlier this week, with the expectation that one of them will kick in place for Zuerlein in Thursday night’s game against the Texans.

    Jets signed K Riley Patterson.
The Jets inked Patterson and K Spencer Shrader to the team’s practice squad. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said one of the two kickers will start for New York Thursday night against the Texans while Greg Zuerlein — who has missed six of his 15 field goal attempts this season — deals with a sudden knee injury. A good showing from Patterson or Shrader could spell the end for Zuerlein’s run in New York.

Jets K Greg Zuerlein (knee) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.
Zuerlein was added to the Jets’ Tuesday injury report with a left knee issue. His addition is an interesting development after the Jets brought in kickers to try out on Tuesday. Zuerlein has made just 9-of-15 field goals on the season, struggling to generate points for the Jets. Between the injury listing and kicker tryouts, there is a good chance Zuerlein will not be a Jet by the end of the week.

Jets will try out kickers this week.
Zuerlien has been a disaster this season, missing six of his 15 field goal tries. He missed a critical field goal and an extra point in the Jets’ Week 8 loss to the Patriots. The usually-reliable veteran might get one more shot but could be forced out if the team settles on a more trusted option as they play out the stretch.

Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said the team will hold a kicking competition on Tuesday ahead of Week 9’s game against the Texans.
Greg Zuerlein missed a field goal and an extra point in New York’s loss to the Patriots and has been ghastly this year, making just 9-of-15 field goals. Ulbrich was non-committal when asked about Zuerlein’s job. It sure sounds like the Jets may make a kicker move this week.

    Jets re-signed K Greg Zuerlein to a two-year, $8.4 million contract.
Zuerlein converged on 35-of-38 field goal attempts for the Jets last season, and made five of his six attempts from 50-plus yards. In two seasons with the Jets, Greg the Leg has converted on 86.7 percent of his field goals while making 95.6 percent of his extra points.

Jets declared K Greg Zuerlein, DE Will McDonald, RB Izzy Abanikanda, T Max Mitchell, CB Bryce Hall, LB Zaire Barnes, and WR Jason Brownlee inactive for Week 2 against the Cowboys.
Austin Seibert will kick for New York for at least one week. Hopefully Zuerlein, who has missed time with various soft tissue injuries in recent years, can return for Week 3.
