Browns waived LB Colby Bockwoldt and C Greg Eslinger.
Eslinger could join the practice team if he clears waivers, but Denver may have some interest. Bockwoldt, once a 100-tackle man, has fallen off quickly.
  • Browns signed C Greg Eslinger off the Broncos’ practice squad.
The athletic Eslinger was viewed as a decent prospect for zone blocking coming out of Minnesota in 2006, but wound up in NFL Europa this spring. He’ll be low on the depth chart behind Hank Fraley and Lennie Friedman.
  • HOU Quarterback
Texans released QB Alex Brink, C Greg Eslinger, LB Kevis Coley, OL Torrin Tucker, TE Ryan Krause, and FB Jon Abbate.
Brink, the Texans’ seventh-round pick in April, is a prime candidate for the practice squad. Houston will open with two QBs on its roster; Sage Rosenfels and Matt Schaub. Coley had 15 tackles in the exhibition finale.
  • Broncos signed sixth-round C Greg Eslinger to an undisclosed contract.
Eslinger learned zone blocking at Minnesota so the transition in Denver should be an easy one. He’s Tom Nalen’s heir apparent.
  • Broncos placed C Greg Eslinger on injured reserve, ending his season.
Eslinger, a sixth-round pick, has a chance to be Denver’s center of the future. The Broncos are probably saving him up on the I.R. list.
  • Broncos allocated C Greg Eslinger, TE Teyo Johnson, G Kevin McAlmont, T Doug Nienhuis and CB Lamont Reid to NFL Europe.
Eslinger was believed to be Denver’s center of the future, but this is an indication he won’t help the Broncos much until 2008. They want him to work on his strength.
  • Broncos selected Minnesota C Greg Eslinger with the No. 198 pick in the NFL Draft.
Eslinger, the 2005 Rimington Award winner for college’s top center, could be an option to replace Tom Nalen down the road.
