Packers signed K Lucas Havrisik, OT Brant Banks, DL Dante Barnett, OG Karsen Barnhart, DL Anthony Campbell, TE McCallan Castles, OT Dalton Cooper, TE Drake Dabney, DL James Ester, CB Tyron Herring, LB Jamon Johnson, RB Damien Martinez, S Mark Perry, WR Will Sheppard, RB Pierre Strong Jr. and TE Messiah Swinson to reserve/futures contracts.
Havrisik hit 4-of-4 field goals and 7-of-9 extra points this year, and the Packers seemed to be developing him as kicker of the future — whatever that means in the NFL — while letting him stay on the practice squad. With Brandon McManus’ job officially under scrutiny, it’s possible he eventually gets the Packers kicker gig.
  • GB Tight End #85
The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman writes that Tucker Kraft (knee) “anticipates” starting training camp on the PUP list but “sounded confident he’ll play in the season opener.”
“By the time Week 1 rolls around, I’ll be 10 months post-surgery and hopefully bulletproofed by then,” Kraft told reporters. Green Bay’s TE1 had seemed to be becoming their main weapon as the middle of the season came around before his Week 9 ACL tear. The Packers passcatchers will remain a headache for fantasy managers to figure out if Matt LaFleur remains head coach, but at least Kraft will offer a TE1 floor even if the weekly target volume fluctuates.
  • GB Offensive Lineman #50
Packers RT Zach Tom (knee) said he’s “leaning towards surgery” on a partially torn patellar tendon.
The estimated recovery time on the surgery is six months, which would put Tom as likely to be ready for training camp. Tom played 604 snaps and was one of Green Bay’s best offensive linemen, with an 83.5 PFF grade between a couple of major injuries. His status is worth monitoring, but for now we’re assuming he’ll be ready for camp.
  • GB Defensive Lineman #1
Packers EDGE Micah Parsons (knee) told reporters he thinks he will play in the first month of the 2026 season.
Parsons is recovering from a torn ACL. He plans to be back on the field as early as September. The 26-year-old EDGE told reporters Week 1 is his optimistic target return date, while Week 3 is the more realistic target return date. Either way, Parsons doesn’t anticipate beginning next season on injured reserve, which is a significant development for the Packers.
  • GB Head Coach
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Packers expected to try to work out a new contract with head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Packers have made it known through various reports in the last week that they intend to discuss a new contract with LaFleur after the season. The tenor of those potential discussions likely hasn’t changed much, despite outside noise after the Packers lost in all-too-familiar fashion in the playoffs once again. Green Bay doesn’t want LaFleur, who has one year left on his contract, to enter next season as a lame-duck. The Packers can somewhat afford to play hardball with LaFleur in contract negotiations now. The organization isn’t known for paying coaches top tier money and LaFleur may not be in position to ask for that anymore, despite a 76-41-1 record. Upgrading from LaFleur to someone like John Harbaugh would be even less cost-effective for the Packers. Teams around the league with head coaching vacancies are keeping tabs on LaFleur in case these negotiations fall apart as he’d be a top candidate if he were to become available.
  • GB Head Coach
Packers president and CEO Ed Policy is expected to decide on head coach Matt LaFleur’s future with the team by Monday.
LaFleur told reporters that he will meet with Policy “either the night of Jan. 11 or sometime Jan. 12, indicating a decision on his future will come soon.” The Packers’ head coach has just one year remaining on his contract and it is Policy who faces the decision on whether to extend or fire him. Policy previously stated he prefers to avoid a “lame-duck situation” where LaFleur coaches the Packers in 2026 on an expiring contract. Despite the ridiculous blown lead on Saturday, it would be difficult to replace LaFleur on paper. Coaches like LaFleur, capable of guiding a franchise to a 76-41 record, are tough to replace.
  • GB Defensive Coordinator
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Raiders and Dolphins have requested interviews with Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley for their head coaching vacancies.
Hafley is up to five head coaching interviews now. The Falcons, Cardinals, and Titans have also requested interviews with him. Hafley has held his current position in Green Bay for two seasons. The Packers ranked 11th in points allowed this year and sixth in 2024. He was Boston College’s head coach before joining the Packers.
  • GB Kicker #17
Brandon McManus missed both field goal attempts while making 3-of-4 extra points in the Packers’ Wild Card Round loss to the Bears.
McManus missed two critical kicks; an extra-point that would have put the Packers up by 13 with two minutes left, and a field goal that would have extended the Green Bay lead to six. The 34-year-old made 24-of-30 field goals in 2025, but he went just 6-for-12 on kicks beyond 40 yards. He is signed through 2027, but there’s no guarantee that McManus will be back in Green Bay in 2026.
  • GB Tight End #88
Luke Musgrave caught 1-of-2 targets for nine yards in the Packers’ Wild Card Round loss to the Bears.
Musgrave wasn’t involved despite the Packers throwing 46 times in the loss, and the 2023 second-round pick finishes a disappointing campaign with another ineffective fantasy outing. He ended the year with just 24 catches for 252 yards, and even after Tucker Kraft went down with his ACL injury in Week 9, he didn’t he didn’t make an impact with zero touchdowns and just one game with over four catches. The 25-year-old is under contract for one more year, and there’s no reason to think he should be on radars when draft season begins.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
Christian Watson caught 3-of-7 targets for 36 yards with a touchdown in the Packers’ Wild Card Round loss to the Bears.
Watson came very close to a second touchdown, but he fumbled into the end zone with the ball being recovered by Green Bay and placed on the one-yard line to set up another score. The product of North Dakota State didn’t have any success in the second half, and the Packers’ second-half collapse keeps the Bears from moving on. Watson’s season line of 35 catches for 611 yards with six touchdowns is more impressive when you consider he didn’t play until the end of October, and the wideout appeared to build up chemistry with Jordan Love towards the end of the campaign; even with a lot of mouths to feed in the Green Bay passing attack. He’s under contract for 2026, and he’ll begin the 2026 campaign in the low-end WR, high-end WR3 conversation.
