ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Panthers DC Ejiro Evero is “still in the mix” for the Raiders’ head-coaching vacancy.
Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak is viewed as the favorite for the role, but Evero is evidently still in it. Per Fowler, Evero conveyed detailed plans for the offense and, specifically, the quarterback position during his in-person meeting with the Raiders. The presentation apparently went over well. Stay tuned.

Steelers completed a virtual interview with Panthers DC Ejiro Evero, amongst others.
The Steelers reportedly completed virtual interviews with seven coaches during the previous week, to include, Evero, Packers DC Jeff Hafley, 49ers OC Klay Kubiak, Chargers DC Jesse Minter, Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Rams DC Chris Schula, and Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver. The team will also reportedly conduct in-person interviews this week for the select few that made it through their first round of questioning. More to come following the unexpected departure of Mike Tomlin, who had been the league’s longest tenured coach.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Raiders will interview Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for a second time regarding its open head coaching position.
Evero met virtually with the Raiders this week and will have an in-person interview sometime next week. The 45-year-old defensive coordinator also has an interview with the Steelers coming up. Evero has been a defensive coordinator for the last four years (three with the Panthers, one with the Broncos) with mixed results, though he remains respected around the league.

Raiders completed an interview with Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for their head-coaching vacancy.
This is Evero’s first reported interview. He has also received interview requests from the Steelers and Falcons this week. Evero’s defenses have delivered volatile results over the last three seasons, but the 45-year-old coach evidently remains a respected figure in league circles.

Steelers requested an interview with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for their head coaching vacancy.
Evero has been one of the more highly-regarded defensive coordinators in the league for a while. He has been with the Panthers as their DC for three years and previously spent a year in Denver with the same role. The Panthers just finished in the top half of the league in yards and points allowed, though they were a below-average unit by EPA per play. Evero has head coaching interviews with the Raiders, Falcons, and Steelers. He also received head coaching looks last year.

The Raiders have requested permission to interview Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for their head-coaching vacancy.
The same is reportedly true of the Falcons. Evero has been on something of a three-year journey in Carolina, overseeing a strong unit in 2023, a disastrous one in 2024, and respectable one in 2025. We would consider him a long shot for either opening, but he’s clearly a name getting around in league circles. He also interviewed for openings following 2023. Evero turned 45 earlier this month.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Ejiro Evero will return as the team’s defensive coordinator next season.
Evero fielded a handful of interviews for a head coaching gig last offseason after the Panthers’ defense ranked top-10 in yards allowed in 2023. Evero’s defense was anything but a high-end unit in 2024, ranking last in the league in yards allowed, points allowed, success rate, and EPA per play. It’s not hyperbolic to say things couldn’t have gotten much worse for Evero and the Panthers’ defense in 2024. While Evero could still field head coaching interviews in the coming days, that seems unlikely given his unit’s struggles this season.

The Athletic’s Joseph Person reports Panthers DC Ejiro Evero “is staying with the Panthers, and most of his defensive staff is also expected to return” in 2024.
This is good news for the Panthers and newly minted head coach Dave Canales, who spoke glowingly of Evero. Having competed against Evero in 2023 as the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator, Canales said Evero’s defense “was really hard to deal with,” and he’s “really excited to learn more about the ins and outs” of his calls and adjustments. Evero has been on the head coaching radar in back-to-back offseasons and probably isn’t long for Carolina beyond this season. His defense was the lone bright spot for the Panthers in 2023 and will likely be a highlight again next season. Another successful year could be enough for another team to hire him into a head coaching role in 2025.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Falcons have requested a second interview with Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for their head coaching vacancy.
Evero has already received a request for a second interview from the Seahawks and can now add the Falcons to that mix. The 43-year-old defensive coordinator has been a popular name throughout this coaching cycle and received a handful of interviews last year as well. Evero and his defense were one of the few bright spots for the Panthers last season, allowing the fourth-fewest yards per game while ranking in the top 10 in passing yards allowed and net yards per attempt.

Seahawks are doing second interviews with Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for the team’s head coaching vacancy.
Seattle is also planning second interviews with Carolina defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. It’s certainly a thorough process to replace longtime head coach Pete Carroll. Morris has drawn interest from several teams and could have his pick of head coaching jobs in the next week or two. Quinn’s chances to land the Seattle job might have been dinged by the Cowboys’ defensive meltdown against the Packers in the Wild Card round.
