Jet placed OT Duane Brown (back) on injured reserve.
Brown was previously on injured reserve because of a hip injury. He will now miss the remainder of the season because of this back issue. Brown appeared in five games this year, three of which were starts. At 38 years old, it’s possible Brown hangs up the cleats after the injury-riddled season.
  • NYJ Quarterback #2
Jets declared WR Allen Lazard, OT Mekhi Becton, OL Austin Deculus, LB Sam Eguavoen, DL Carl Lawson, CB Michael Carter, and QB Zach Wilson inactive for Week 12 against the Dolphins.
Lazard and Becton are the two most “relevant” players here, but both were ruled out prior to the team announcing their inactives. Rookie Carter Warren is expected to draw the start after filling in for Becton last week.

Jets activated OT Duane Brown (hip) off injured reserve.
Brown has been designated to return from his early-season hip injury for two weeks. His return should be a boon for the Jets offense as the team bravely enters the Tim Boyle era in Week 12 against the Dolphins. Pro Football Focus grades the Jets’ offensive line as the league’s fourth worst pass blocking unit.

Jets OT Duane Brown (hip) is not a lock to be activated off the injured reserve.
Brown’s 21-day practice window ends on Thursday, but Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that the team is still evaluating whether he will be activated. Obviously, it’s not a good sign for either the health of his hip of the quality of his practice reps that the team still doesn’t know if they need him considering all of the injuries on their offensive line. If the Jets decide not to activate him at the end of his window, Brown will be ineligible to be activated to the 53-man roster for the rest of the season.

Jets OT Duane Brown (hip) will not play in Week 11 against the Bills.
Brown has been designated to return from injured reserve two weeks ago. He was a full participant in practice throughout the week but is slow-playing his return to avoid re-aggravating the issue. Fellow offensive tackle Billy Turner is also out. Brown looks like a good bet to return for Week 12.

Jets OT Duane Brown will not play in Week 10 against the Raiders.
Despite returning to practice this week, Duane Brown will not be activated from the IR in time for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. With Billy Turner also ruled out with a broken finger, this Jets offensive line is in real trouble against Maxx Crosby and the Raiders.

Jets OT Duane Brown (groin) will return to practice on Thursday.
Brown said his shoulder, which was surgically repaired in the offseason, is stronger and has a better range of motion than early in the season. He admitted he returned too soon and wants to prevented doing the same thing with this injury, which he called a groin injury, even though the Jets listed it as a hip. Brown says he wants to see how he practices this week before declaring himself ready to return. When he does return, Mekhi Becton figures to slide back to RT for the Jets.

Jets placed OT Duane Brown on injured reserve.
That escalated quickly. In the span of 24 hours, Duane’s status went from “we think he’ll play,” to out for Week 3, to injured reserve. The 36-year-old tackle will now miss the next four games for the Jets.

Jets ruled OT Duane Brown out for Week 3 against the Patriots.
That could spell trouble for fill-in quarterback Zach Wilson, who will now be without his starting left tackle against the stout Patriots defense. Head coach Robert Saleh said yesterday that he expected Brown to play in Week 3. Billy Turner could slide right into the starting left tackle spot of the team could move right tackle Mekhi Becton to the left side to protect Wilson’s blind side.

Jets activated OT Duane Brown (shoulder) from the PUP list.
Brown, entering his age-38 season, returned to the Jets this summer after talking about retirement in 2022. He played through an injured shoulder for most of the 2022 season and struggled as a result. The Jets will need all the blocking help they can get after a training camp in which the line has routinely collapsed in protecting the team’s quarterbacks, including 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers.
