Bucs coach Raheem Morris is impressed with the progress of last year’s fourth-round DT Dre Moore.
“He’s starting to look like a guy I want to say I want to count on him,” coach Raheem Morris said. Moore is in good shape this season after showing up overweight last year and spending the season on the practice squad.

Bucs waived DT Dre Moore and released LB Ryan Nece.
Moore was a fourth-round pick in April, but showed up overweight and never got on the coaching staff’s good side. Nece isn’t a starting-caliber LB.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Bucs signed restricted free agent DT Jovan Haye to a one-year, $2.017 million contract.
Haye, who had six sacks and 68 tackles last season, is still hoping to negotiate a long-term deal with the Bucs. He’ll be rotating at the three technique with rookie Dre Moore this year, so don’t expect a statistical repeat.
  • TB Defensive Lineman
Bucs signed fourth-round DT Dre Moore to a four-year contract.
Tampa Bay drafted Moore with the idea of him possibly rotating with starting three technique Jovan Haye, but the Maryland alum showed up to rookie camp out of shape. He should make the team, but doesn’t have a set role yet.
  • TB Defensive Lineman
Bucs coach Jon Gruden called out rookie DT Dre Moore for reporting to minicamps overweight.
“He still has a long way to go to master playing pro football in this area of the country,” Gruden said of Moore, who played collegiately at Maryland. “He’s going to have stamina issues until he gets himself into great shape.”
  • TB Defensive Lineman
Bucs signed DT Dre Moore, OT Julius Wilson, CB Kyle Arrington, DB Greg Fassitt, DL Louis Holmes, OT Anthony Alabi, K Shane Andrus, S Jamall Johnson, and TE Jason Pociask to reserve/future contracts.
Moore is the most notable name here. Tampa’s fourth-round pick in 2008, he reported to the team overweight and spent his first year on the practice squad. Andrus will be a “camp leg” behind Matt Bryant. Pociask is a blocker.
  • TB Quarterback
Bucs waived QB Jevan Snead, LB Rico McCoy, DT Carlton Powell, TE Ryan Purvis, DT Dre Moore, and FB Rendrick Taylor.
This is Snead’s second release by the Bucs. Tampa decided Rudy Carpenter was a better third-string option. The team is keeping six linebackers, but McCoy may land on the practice squad. Purvis played at Boston College.
