Doug Gabriel, battling a hamstring injury, will play this weekend and start.
He’s taking over Jerry Rice’s starting job. We’ll temper our fantasy expectations until any of the Raiders receivers show consistency.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel and Ronald Curry will make it through a full week of practice this week.
They are both probable and ready to play. Gabriel could put up decent numbers versus Carolina this weekend.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel, questionable with a hamstring injury, did not practice Wednesday.
Since he played last week, we’d expect Gabriel to go again in week eight. He’s worth owning, but not starting, in most leagues.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel dislocated his right index finger Saturday.
He should be back at practice Monday. Gabriel is getting more attention during camp with Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry both missing practice time.
  • JAX Wide Receiver
Jerry Porter will be Oakland’s starting flanker in Lane Kiffin’s offense.
Porter likens Kiffin’s scheme to what he played in under Jon Gruden, for whom he put up some of the best seasons of his career. Ronald Curry will be the split end, which could lead to fewer catches but more downfield, big-play opportunities. Slot candidates are Johnnie Morant, Doug Gabriel, and Johnnie Lee Higgins. Mike Williams is also in the mix.
  • BUF Coaching Staff
Ronald Curry returned to practice Monday after missing two weeks with a minor leg injury.
With Mike Williams still on the sidelines, Travis Taylor and Doug Gabriel appear to be the leading candidates for the number three receiver job behind Curry and Jerry Porter.
  • BUF Coaching Staff
Raiders signed WR Ronald Curry to a new five-year, $20 million contract.
Oakland had been looking to avoid paying Curry a $5 million roster bonus, and instead gave him a long-term contract that will guarantee him $8.5 million. Curry, who had 62 catches to lead the team in 2006, should be a starter this season whether or not Randy Moss is traded or cut.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel caught a eight-yard touchdown on Oakland’s opening drive Saturday.
He finished with two catches for 19 yards. We haven’t confirmed whether Jerry Porter played Sunday, but he didn’t have a catch. Gabriel’s hold on the starting job (and sleeper status) looks secure.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel caught four passes for 60 yards in week nine.
Gabriel is emerging as the most consistent wideout in Oakland. He looks like a solid fantasy prospect moving forward.
  • CIN Wide Receiver
Doug Gabriel caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown in week 15.
The Raiders would like more consistency, but Gabriel has earned an increased role heading into next season.
