Steelers wavied TE Sean McHugh, TE Eugene Bright, WR Brandon London, OG Dorian Brooks, and OT Kyle Jolly.
McHugh, an H-back type, spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Steelers have moved on to David Johnson in the FB/TE role. London made some noise as a special teamer during camp, but the Steelers have much better options at receiver.
  • Signed off the Steelers’ practice squad on Saturday, G Dorian Brooks will likely be active for the Super Bowl.
He’ll serve as an emergency third center. Trai Essex, who has never appeared at center in an NFL game, will be Doug Legursky’s backup. All three of them will have to contend with Packers NT B.J. Raji, who’s in for a night-long mismatch.
  • FA Center #53
Steelers placed C Maurkice Pouncey on injured reserve with a broken ankle, ending his season.
After nearly two weeks of pretending Pouncey had a shot to play in tomorrow’s Super Bowl, the Steelers have officially assured that will not happen. Guard Dorian Brooks will take his place on the roster. Brooks has never before appeared in an NFL game, and is highly unlikely to be active tomorrow.
  • Steelers placed G/C Dorian Brooks on the reserve/left squad list.
Brooks spent last season on the practice squad, but it appears he’s calling it a career. The 24-year-old played college ball at D-IAA James Madison.
