Rams WR Derek Stanley has looked impressive at camp this season.
Stanley had four catches for 61 yards, a punt return for 11 yards and two kickoff returns for 41 yards in the preseason opener on Saturday. He’s also been making a lot of big plays at practice. He is fighting Marques Hagans and Dominique Thompson (broken ribs) for the Rams’ final WR spot.
  • LAR Wide Receiver
Rams signed seventh-round WR Derek Stanley to a three-year, $1.1 million contract. The deal includes a $27,900 signing bonus.
The 5-9/178-pounder from UW-Whitewater will be tried on returns in camp. He’s battling Marques Hagans and Dominique Thompson to be St. Louis’ sixth WR, but the Rams could easily stay with five after acquiring Dante Hall.
  • CAR Wide Receiver
Dominique Thompson suffered two displaced ribs in Friday night’s exhibition game. He will miss at least a few weeks.
The annual training camp standout is now unlikely to make the Rams’ roster. Marques Hagans will likely get the nod if St. Louis keeps six receivers.
  • LAR Wide Receiver
Rams released WR Derek Stanley and WR Dominique Thompson.
Stanley and Thompson lost out on a roster bid to Marques Hagans.
  • CAR Wide Receiver
Panthers signed WR Dominique Thompson to a one-year contract.
Formerly on the Rams practice squad, Thompson has been a training camp standout in the past.
  • TEN Wide Receiver
Panthers signed KR Mark Jones and waived WR Dominique Thompson.
Hopefully Thompson didn’t get too comfortable. Jones gives Carolina a body to handle returns, even if he’s unlikely to do much after catching them.
  • DET Wide Receiver
Dane Looker is expected to make the Rams’ roster this season.
Looker didn’t catch a pass in Scott Linehan’s first year but is a good holder and plays special teams. Derek Stanley, Dominique Thompson, and Marques Hagans are currently vying to be St. Louis’ sixth receiver.
