J.T. O’Sullivan was named co-offensive MVP of NFL Europa.
O’Sullivan is property of the Bears. He split the award with Chiefs-allocated RB Derrick Ross. DE Jason Hall (Panthers) was named defensive MVP after registering 12 sacks, including a streak of one in seven games straight. None of the above are likely to make their NFL teams out of training camp.
  • FA Running Back
Michael Bennett is likely not an option for the Chiefs as a full-time back if Larry Johnson sits out training camp and/or some of the season.
Kolby Smith, undrafted rookie Marcus O’Keith, and former NFL Europa star Derrick Ross could all help in a rotation if Johnson gets hurt or holds out. Bennett’s inability to stay healthy makes him one of the poorer handcuffs in fantasy football. We’re betting Smith passes him during the year.
  • ATL Running Back
Chris Barclay currently leads NFL Europa in total yards gained.
He’s second to Derrick Ross (Chiefs) in rushing yards, although both are averaging under four yards-per-carry. Barclay has been an electrifying return man in Europe and has a chance to make Cleveland’s roster out of training camp. Ross could struggle to do so with Kolby Smith in town.
  • KC Running Back
Derrick Ross made the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie tailback.
Ross, who played college ball at little-known Tarleton State, beat out Quentin Griffin and McKenzi Smith to be Kansas City’s fourth back.
  • KC Running Back
Undrafted rookie RB Derrick Ross carried the ball three times for eight yards in the Chiefs’ 45-7 loss to the Steelers.
With the game out of reach, Ross got a few touches. He has a chance to pass Dee Brown on the depth chart.
  • KC Running Back
Chiefs undrafted rookie running back Derrick Ross is expected to get a shot in the team’s backfield.
Ross, a Tarleton State alum, was Kansas City’s story of training camp. He was active in Week 5 but did not receive a carry. It won’t be a surprise if Ross passes Dee Brown on the depth chart in the coming weeks.
  • KC Running Back
Chiefs declared RB Derrick Ross, QB Trent Green, CB Benny Sapp, LB Rich Scanlon, T Chris Terry, G Tre Stallings, QB Casey Printers, and C Rudy Niswanger inactive for Week 8 against Seattle.
Ross has been inactive the past two contests. With Damon Huard able to start, Green won’t be rushed back. Sapp should return in Week 9.
  • KC Running Back
Chiefs allocated RB Derrick Ross to NFL Europa.
Ross followed an impressive training camp with three regular-season carries. He’ll get experience and could land on the practice squad in ’07.
  • KC Running Back
Free agent Quentin Griffin is currently the starting running back for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa.
Griffin is backed up by John David Washington (property of the Rams) and Tony Hollings, another free agent. Derrick Ross (Chiefs), Gerald Riggs Jr. (Bears), and Chris Barclay (Browns) are also in the league.
