NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein writes Arkansas LB De’Jon “Scoota” Harris “wants to play as physical as possible.”
At 6-foot and 245-pounds, it’s no surprise Harris wants to play physical. Harris has the size to be a strong middle linebacker in the NFL. Zierlein also writes that Harris plays with a “thumper’s mentality,” which suggests he is not at all afraid to barrel downhill and crash into the point of attack. However, Harris does not have sideline-to-sideline speed and may have issues playing in space in the modern NFL.

Arkansas senior LB De’Jon Harris has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Harris (6'0/245), a second team all-SEC selection by the Associated Press in both 2017 and 2018, has been one of the few brights spots in what has been a very disappointing season for the Razorbacks. Through ten games the senior linebacker has accounted for 82 total tackles (39 solo, 3.5 for loss), two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two quarterback hurries. WalterFootball.com draft analyst Charlie Campbell ranked Harris 12th among draft-eligible inside linebackers in his most recent position rankings in mid-November, noting his ability to defend the run as one of Harris’ strengths.

Pro Football Focus notes that Arkansas senior LB De’Jon Harris is the top returning linebacker in terms of percentage of run stops in the SEC.
Harris picked up a run stop on 11.3 percent of downs, according to the website, which is almost two percent ahead of Missouri’s Cale Garrett, who ranks second. Harris is currently doing with a slight fracture in his foot, and it cost him most of the spring. It shouldn’t cause him to miss any time in the fall -- that’s what they’re saying, anyway -- and Harris should be among the most productive linebackers in the conference again in 2019.

Arkansas senior LB De’Jon Harris has been ruled for the remainder of spring practice due to a slight fracture in his foot.
Per Razorbacks HC Chad Morris, Harris has been living with this injury for some time, dating back to last season. The 6-foot, 245-pound senior will undergo surgery to have a screw placed in his foot. While he will sit this spring, Harris is not expected to be out for an extended amount of time. Morris indicated that he should be ready to take part in football activities in May. Harris has been working as a starter for each of the past two campaigns while racking up at least 115 tackles in each of those seasons. We’ll keep an eye on his recovery from surgery, but it doesn’t sound like the foot procedure should have any impact on his availability for August camp barring unforeseen complication.
