It’s believed medical concerns may have affected Molk’s stock. Also undersized at under 6-foot-1, 299, Molk is a try-hard center who got the most out of his talent at Michigan. He was a 2011 first-team All American while earning Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year honors and the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center. Molk could be Nick Hardwick’s eventual successor.

Knocked for being undersized at 6'1" and 298 pounds with short arms, Molk fell to the final round despite being named the nation’s best center at Michigan last season. The Chargers hope he can develop into Nick Hardwick’s successor.

The Rimington Trophy winner was able to perform drills at his personal pro day earlier in the week. Although the highly opinionated Molk adamantly insists he’s the best center in the draft, he’s often ranked third behind Wisconsin’s Peter Konz and Ohio State’s Michael Brewster or Georgia’s Ben Jones.

Ajirotutu had his hand in a cast after last week’s game. He had three catches for 45 yards in three games with the Chargers. Michael Spurlock will likely see increased snaps, though he’s far from a fantasy option. A special teamer and extra blocker in jumbo packages, Molk suffered a thumb injury in Week 13.

A seventh-round pick in 2012, Molk appeared in 12 games for the Chargers’ injury-ravaged line last year. He never developed into Nick Hardwick’s successor. Johnnie Troutman looks like a good bet to stick on the roster.
