It’s another indication that Legedu Naanee (Achilles) won’t be playing against the Colts. Adams was Cam Newton’s No. 1 receiver at Auburn last season, but is considered an incredibly raw deep threat. He’s not a candidate for many snaps initially. The Panthers also have Newton’s college left tackle, fellow rookie War Eagle, Lee Ziemba, on the roster in Carolina.

It’s a sign that Rodgers’ offensive role will remain limited primarily to passing downs. The good news it that adding kickoffs could make Quizz a viable starting option in PPR leagues that reward points for return yardage. Harry Douglas is listed as the first-team punt returner.

Kirlew is the best bet for the practice squad out of this group. He was a seventh-round pick in April’s draft, but was outplayed by undrafted rookie Kevin Alexander. Duncan, another undrafted free agent, played at Notre Dame.

Zinger was trying to make the Falcons as a blocking tight end behind Tony Gonzalez. Daniels, Wolfe, and Strickland were all buried on the depth chart.

The procedure was done to remove bone spurs, the result of buildup over the 32-year-old Crayton’s career. Rookie slot receiver Vincent Brown (hamstring) is due back at practice on Tuesday, and could make a push for early-season snaps with Crayton sidelined. This is a position to avoid in 12-team leagues.
