    Saints released RB Darrel Williams.
Roby has been one of the more consistent nickel corners during his career but struggled to the tune of a 49.6 PFF coverage grade in 2022. The Saints chose to move on and instead turn to 2022 second-round selection Alontae Taylor to man the slot coverage. Also released or waived by the Saints were S Johnathan Abram, LB Nick Anderson, WR Kawaan Baker, FB Jake Bargas, WR Lynn Bowden Jr, DL Jerron Cage, WR Shaw Davis, DT Prince Emili, OL Mark Evans, G Chuck Filiaga, DB Adrian Frye, P Blake Gillikin, DT Jack Heflin, DB Anthony Johnson, OL Lewis Kidd, WR Jontrae Kirklin, G Tommy Kraemer, TE Lucas Krull, DE Niko Lalos, RB Ellis Merriweather, S Smoke Monday, LB Anfernee Orji, DE Kyle Phillips, OL Alex Pihlstrom, DB Troy Pride, OL Calvin Throckmorton, LB Ryan Connelly, TE J.P. Holtz, TE Jesse James, T Storm Norton, LB Jaylon Smith, LB Ty Summers and CB Bradley Roby.

Cardinals placed RB Darrel Williams (hip) on injured reserve.
Williams just returned from a two-week knee issue last Sunday against the Vikings and now will miss at least the next four games. One would assume James Conner (ribs) will be back this week, but Arizona also has Keaontay Ingram alongside Eno Benjamin.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
Williams missed Weeks 6 and 7 with a knee issue before returning last week against the Vikings, handling seven touches on 27% of the snaps. James Conner (ribs) was limited Wednesday.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams rushed five times for eight yards in the Cardinals’ Week 8 loss to the Vikings.
Williams served as Eno Benjamin’s backup in this game. It was his first game back from a knee injury, but Benjamin’s strong showing as the starter a week ago likely secured him the No. 2 gig when James Conner is healthy. Williams isn’t on the fantasy radar heading into Week 9.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams (knee) is active for Week 8 against the Vikings.
The Cardinals declared RB James Conner, LT D.J. Humphries, OL Max Garcia, C Rodney Hudson, LB Dennis Gardeck, CB Christian Matthew, and QB Trace McSorley inactive. Williams is playing after missing a pair of games because of the knee injury. Eno Benjamin will start, but Williams could take some work away from him. Benjamin sits at the end of the RB2 ranks for his Week 8 matchup with Minnesota.

  • FA Running Back #34
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Darrel Williams (questionable, knee) will be a game-day decision.
James Conner was ruled out with his lingering rib issue. Eno Benjamin should get the start, even if Williams is able to play. At most, Williams will siphon off a handful of touches from Benjamin. If he doesn’t suit up, Benjamin could push for RB1 numbers.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams (knee) was limited in practice Thursday.
Back-to-back limited sessions probably put him close to truly questionable after he missed Weeks 6 and 7. Williams has no stand-alone value but could be part of a committee with Eno Benjamin if James Conner (ribs) sits again.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams (knee) returned to practice Wednesday.
Williams has been out because of the knee issue for two weeks. With James Conner also out, the Cardinals have been leaning on Eno Benjamin. Conner will reclaim his starting role this week, though Benjamin’s strong performance in Week 7 could earn him sole possession of the backup gig, even with Williams healthy.

  • FA Running Back #34
Darrel Williams (knee) is inactive for Week 7 against the Saints.
There was never much hope that Williams would give it a go. Eno Benjamin gets another start while Keaontay Ingram operations as the No. 2.

  • FA Running Back #34
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t expect Darrel Williams (knee) to play Week 7 against the Saints.
Williams is likely out, and James Conner (ribs) remains day to day headed into a short week. Eno Benjamin (foot) was limited Monday after playing 87% of the snaps against the Seahawks.
