Bills DT DaQuan Jones (calf) is questionable for Week 10 against the Dolphins.
Cornerbacks Taron Johnson (groin) and Christian Benford (groin) will also be questionable after being limited in back-to-back practices to close out the week. Jones was also limited on Thursday and Friday after being a DNP on Wednesday, and appears to have a chance to play after missing last week’s game. With DE A.J. Epenesa (concussion) and LB Shaq Thompson (hamstring) already ruled out for Sunday’s game, the Bills will hopefully get some good news on Jones and Johnson when inactives are announced before kickoff.
  • BUF Cornerback #47
Bills CB Christian Benford (groin) did not practice on Thursday.
This is unfortunate. Last week, Bills slot CB Taron Johnson was sidelined by a groin injury of his own. Benford nursed a groin injury earlier this season, but has not missed any games. Bills EDGE Joey Bosa is playing through a wrist issue and is visibly bothered by it in-game. He should be on the field in Week 10, unless he is downgraded tomorrow, though. The Bills face the Dolphins this weekend. Bills DT DaQuan Jones (calf) also resumed practicing today.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #5
Bills ruled out Josh Palmer (ankle/knee) for Week 9 against the Chiefs.
Palmer continues to work his way back from an injury he suffered in Week 6. Palmer hasn’t contributed much this season when healthy, and is currently sitting on a 14-234-0 line through six games. His absence shouldn’t have much of an impact on a Bills offense that has relied on Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Dalton Kincaid as its top three pass catchers. In addition to Palmer, the Bills also ruled out DT DaQuan Jones and LB Shaq Thompson for Sunday’s game.
  • BUF Linebacker #58
Bills declared LB Matt Milano, WR Joshua Palmer, DT DaQuan Jones, DB/KR Brandon Codrington, DE Landon Jackson, and OL Chase Lundt inactive for Week 8 against the Panthers.
The good news is that means Terrel Bernard (ankle) will suit up. However, Milano (pectoral), Jones (calf), and Palmer (knee/ankle) will all be held out and try to heal up in time for next week’s game against the Chiefs.
  • BUF Linebacker #58
Bills LB Matt Milano (pectoral) is questionable to play in Week 8 against the Panthers.
Fellow Bills’ LB Terrel Bernard (ankle) is also questionable, as is rookie CB Maxwell Hairston (knee). DT DaQuan Jones (calf) and S Taylor Rapp (knee) have both been ruled out. The injuries should allow the Panthers to continue running ball efficiently with RBs Rico Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #92
DaQuan Jones (calf) will not play in Week 8 against the Panthers.
Jones suffered a calf injury while warming up for Week 6’s game against the Falcons and was unable to suit up for that game. Its been two weeks since the injury, but the veteran tackle was still unable to get on the practice field this week and has now been ruled out for Sunday’s contest against the Panthers.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #92
Bills DT DaQuan Jones (calf) will not play in Week 6 against the Falcons.
Jones reportedly suffered a calf injury in pre-game warmups and will not play against the Falcons in Week 6. Jones leads Buffalo’s defensive tackles in snaps played this season and the team will likely adopt a looser rotation at the position to fill the void.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #92
Bills agreed to terms with DT DaQuan Jones on a two-year, $16 million contract.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal includes $10.5 million guaranteed and is worth up to $18 million. Jones suffered a torn pec in Week 5 that limited him to seven games. It’s safe to assume he would have set career highs in several categories had he not gone down with the injury. Jones’s 2.5 sacks were one short of his best mark and he tied his high-water mark in TFLs at four. With the Bills losing a number of notable players on defense this offseason, Jones should return to a sizable role in 2024.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #92
The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia expects DT DaQuan Jones to be the Bills’ top priority amongst their in-house free agents.
It’s a bit surprising since Jones is going on 33 and coming off a campaign where he appeared in just seven games because of pectoral issues, but Buscaglia believes his contributions were considered absolutely critical both against the run and as a pass-rusher. The Bills also have depth issues at Jones’ tackle spot, while his age and recent injury history figure to limit his value on the open market.
  • BUF Defensive Tackle #92
Bills opened the practice window for DT Daquan Jones (pec).
Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Week 5 and underwent surgery soon after. At the time, it was thought that he would likely be lost for the season, but the 31-year-old has worked his way back and will be able to practice this week. Jones was playing at a Pro Bowl level in the first four weeks of the season, notching three sacks, nine quarterback hurries, and 15 pressures. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 90.2 and a pass rush grade of 89.5. With fellow defensive tackle Jordan Phillips undergoing wrist surgery, Jones’ return would be incredibly well-timed. The Bills now have 21 days to decide whether to return Jones to the active roster or end his season, but his potential return is great news for a team fighting to claw back into the playoffs.
