Former Bills and Patriots RB Damien Harris announced his retirement from the NFL.
Harris’ five-year NFL career ends after recording 2,188 rushing yards, 297 receiving yards, and 21 total touchdowns with the Patriots and Bills. He started 34 games in 44 appearances with all 34 starts occurring between 2020 and 2023 while with the Patriots. Harris ended his announcement by saying, “Today I am grateful I have found the strength to walk away from the game I love so much.” The Bills move forward with a running back cadre of James Cook, Ty Johnson, and Darrynton Evans.

Damien Harris (neck) is out for Week 7 against the Patriots.
Harris was taken off the field by ambulance in Week 6 after suffering a frightening head/neck injury. He would seem to miss extended time, though the team hasn’t said so yet. James Cook and Latavius Murray will continuing splitting backfield duties, with Murray seeing much of the green zone work.

Damien Harris (concussion/neck) did not practice on Thursday.
The Bills haven’t officially taken the field for Thursday’s practice, but head coach Sean McDermott announced ahead of time that Harris would be a DNP for the second-straight day. It seems unlikely Harris, who was carted off the field with a neck injury last week, will play in Week 7 barring any unexpected developments. In addition to his neck injury, he also needs to clear concussion protocol if he’s to have any chance of playing.

Damien Harris (concussion/neck) did not practice Wednesday.
No surprises here as Harris went down with a scary injury in Week 6. He was forced to be taken off the field and to a hospital in an ambulance on Sunday night. Testing only revealed a neck injury and a concussion. He is now in the league’s concussion protocol. It might be a few weeks before we see Harris back in action, but it’s safe to assume he will be back this season.

Bills HC Doug McDermott said Damien Harris (head/neck) is in the league’s concussion protocol.
In addition to the scary neck injury Harris suffered in Sunday night’s win over the Giants, the veteran running back was also dealt a brain injury. He’ll need to clear concussion protocol if he wants to have any chance of playing in Week 7 against the Patriots, but given the combined injuries he’s dealing with, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him miss at least one game. We’ll know more about his status when the team posts their Wednesday injury report.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Damien Harris (neck) has been released from the hospital and “is going to be fine.”
It was a scary scene in Buffalo on Sunday night when Harris left the field by ambulance following a neck injury in the first half. Despite how things looked on Sunday, Harris is reportedly only dealing with some neck pain and does not appear to have suffered a more serious injury. We’ll see if he practices with the team leading up to Week 7’s contest against the Patriots, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him miss at least one game to fully recover.

Bills RB Damien Harris (neck) has mobility in his extremities but is being taken to the level one trauma center in Buffalo for further evaluation.
Harris was removed by ambulance from the Bills’ Week 6 game against the Giants in the first half after a scary hit to the head/neck. The positive update is a welcome development after the startling incident.

Bills RB Damien Harris was taken by ambulance from Week 6 against the Giants.
Harris took a hit to the head on a short carry late in the first half of the Bills’ Week 6 game against the Giants. He laid motionless on the ground before the ambulance was brought out to take him to the hospital for further evaluation. Prayers are with Harris, his family, and the Bills.

Damien Harris (neck) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
Whatever neck injury is plaguing Harris appears to be minor, as he was upgraded from a limited participant on Wednesday to a full participant on Thursday. The Bills backup running back has seen limited work through four weeks, totaling 19 carries for 80 yards and one touchdown while splitting RB2 duties with Latavius Murray. Harris will be active for the Bills in Week 5, but that doesn’t mean he should be active in your fantasy lineups.

Damien Harris (neck) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
A limited session this early in the week suggests Harris will be cleared from Buffalo’s injury report on Friday. Originally billed as the team’s goal line back during the same, Harris hasn’t seen a carry near the end zone since Week 2. Fantasy managers can move on from Harris without thinking twice.
