The Cowboys have reportedly “zeroed in” on free agent TE DajLeon Farr as a possible depth addition after a slew of tight end injuries.
Once a decorated high school recruit, Farr bounced around colleges and averaged under six yards per reception last season as a Memphis Tiger. Buried on the depth chart in San Diego, he was waived by the Chargers on August 3.
  • BUF Tight End
Cowboys signed TE DajLeon Farr, formerly of the Chargers.
Kevin Brock (high ankle sprain) was waived to make room on the roster. Farr, an undrafted rookie, will immediately step in with Dallas’ third team behind Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett with Scott Sicko nursing a concussion.
  • BUF Tight End
Bills placed TE DajLeon Farr on the Practice Squad-Injured Reserve list.
So farr so bad for the Bills, who just recently lost LB Kawika Mitchell for the season. The Bills are carrying only two tight ends on their active roster, and TE Shawn Nelson doesn’t return from his suspension until Week 5. The team will likely add a TE to the practice squad.
  • FA Tight End #83
Cowboys released TE Martin Rucker, NT Junior Siavii, LB Steve Octavien, and TE Jason Pociask.
DajLeon Farr was also cut, so the Cowboys have opted to go with just Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett at tight end. Supplemental pick Josh Brent’s emergence allowed the team to dump backup nose tackle Siavii.
  • FA Running Back #36
Cowboys waived RB Herb Donaldson, RB Lonyae Miller, OT Will Barker, TE DajLeon Farr, OLB Curtis Johnson, and DL Jimmy Saddler-McQueen.
The Cowboys liked what they saw out of Donaldson and Miller, but the team is only carrying three backs. Miller, who played Ryan Mathews at Fresno State, could end up on the practice squad.
