D.J. Reed is questionable to return while being evaluated for a concussion in Week 9 against the Texans.
Reed has dealt with concussions before, and he’ll need to get through the protocol in order to return. Brandin Echols is currently playing in Reed’s place.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets declared CB D.J. Reed, OT Carter Warren, OL Max Mitchell, RB Israel Abanikanda, EDGE Braiden McGregor, WR Malachi Corley, and CB Michael Carter inactive in Week 7 against the Steelers.
Reed came into the game listed as a game-time decision after suffering a groin injury in the team’s Monday Night Football loss to the Bills. That said, the Jets get a new face in the locker room in the form of wide receiver Davante Adams, who will suit up for his new team just five days after being acquired via trade with the Raiders.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (groin) did not practice Wednesday.
Fellow cornerback Michael Carter (back) also missed Wednesday’s practice. Both players look likely to miss Week 7, though the Steelers don’t have a deep cast of receivers to worry about. George Pickens will see plenty of Sauce Gardner on Sunday.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (groin) is doubtful to return to Week 6 against the Bills.
Reed left in the third quarter and was deemed doubtful to return with a groin injury. His absence could open up room for the Bills’ primary perimeter wide receivers in the fourth quarter.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets declared CB D.J. Reed, OT Carter Warren, RB Israel Abanikanda, DE Eric Watts, DT Leonard Taylor II, and OL Max Mitchell inactive for Week 2 against the Titans.
Reed was questionable with a knee injury and apparently was not healthy enough to give it a go. That’s a slight hit for the Jets secondary, but they’re still in good shape against Will Levis and the Titans passing attack.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (sore knee) did not participate in team drills on Thursday.
HC Robert Saleh told reporters yesterday that he expects Reed to play on Sunday, though Reed was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. We’ll wait to see Thursday’s official injury report but it appears as though Thursday may be a step in the wrong direction. Regardless, he will likely need to log a limited participant designation on Friday for him to suit up this week. Slot CB Michael Carter II (ankle) was a limited participant on Wednesday as well.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
The Jets secondary is getting healthier, with Reed and Sauce Gardner (concussion) set to return in Week 8 against the Giants. A healthy Jets secondary is likely bad news for Tyrod Taylor and he entire Giants offense. Pro Football Focus has graded the Jets secondary as the league’s fifth best coverage unit through Week 7.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Reed and Sauce Gardner are both poised to exit the league’s concussion protocol ahead of the Jets’ Week 8 matchup with the Giants. Nearing full strength on defense, Gang Green should have the upper hand versus Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor this week.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
Jets CB D.J. Reed (concussion) will not play in Week 6 against the Eagles.
Fellow cornerbacks Justin Hardee and Brandin Echols were also ruled out. Reed got in a pair of limited practices before being downgraded to a DNP on Friday. It’s possible his concussion symptoms flared up, forcing him to sit on Friday and in Week 6. With Sauce Gardner questionable because of an illness, the Jets could be working with deep reserves in their secondary versus the Eagles this week.
  • NYJ Cornerback #4
The Jets declared CB D.J. Reed, CB Brandin Echols, DE Carl Lawson, RB Izzy Abanikanda, LB Zaire Barnes, WR Jason Brownlee and WR Mecole Hardman inactive for their Week 5 matchup against the Broncos.
The Jets will look to build on the their Week 4 performance (although a loss) against the Chiefs. They’ll do so without one of their best defensive playmakers in Reed.
